How much did Auburn pay for Thorne?

Never really heard an amount but that wasn’t the answer for Auburn. I’m assuming a mil?

Auburn paid $1.7M for an OT and $1.9M for a quarterback.

I thought Drink said production over potential?

Look what Drinkwitz and the OC did with Cook! He didn't have a power of 5 offer and had to go to a lower division to play quarterback. That is more than good enough for me to trust in Drinkwitz and the OC in recruiting quarterbacks.

We already paid for a highly rated QB this class (Zollers).

Pribula has more experience than Vandagriff had at UGA and actually played in meaningful games (Peach Bowl against Ole Miss, and @Wisconsin in a 14-13 game after the starter Allar went down with injury)

There is a certain style of QB Drinkwitz wants and he's fine overpaying for it as long as it fits his system. I think this was more of a targeted pick-up than just getting the best qb available.

Not a meaningfully different amount.

He's got 50 something career pass attempts in college. Vandgriff had 20-somehing. Both were 66% in their pass attempts.

You're nit picking differences. The reality is 50 career pass attempts is not experienced. And throwing over a million at a guy who hasn't played much is a risk. In general, I don't think that TYPE of decision is a good one.

It may work out for Mizzou. But if it's what a team does regularly, I don't think it's a good strategy. You're paying a lot of money to a QB but instead of being a proven player you have to teach them your system AND teach them how to be a starter... while you're paying them experienced starter money.

No history?! In CF, if a QB gets to the NFL & stays, plays & gets paid, that’s nothing to scoff at:

-Brad Smith
-Chase Daniel
-Blaine Gabbert
-Drew Lock

You speak out of your arse!

Seems like a lot of money to still be irrelevant.

Pyne is not going to be starting. Horn may get a shot.

It was a system chose. Drink likes a mobile QB that can run. Pribula likely stays a helluva lot healthier more often than Cook, baller as he was, was rarely is ever 100% and really kinda sucked when he wasn’t at least 85%-90%. We likely run a shite ton of RPO with our outside zone running scheme and more certainly better with Pribula as Cook coukdnt really run for shite this season let alone pass.

And it’s a nice bridge to delay Zollers into SEC size.

But who knows. Maybe Horn finally pulls one from his arse and gives up baseball or at least flashes the supposed talent he had when requited and it was just a 1.5 million kick in the arse for Horn to do better.

I'm talking about the current Mizzou staff, a guy playing at Mizzou and playing in the NFL a decade ago doesn't have anything to do with the current staff.

And those guys were all busts and backups.

All I can say is there’s a decent amount of Penn st fans I’ve seen say they wished he would be the starter over Allar next year. Not most, but enough to get my attention

Allar sucks. One of the worst starting QB’s among Power 4 teams.

The only upperclassmen Missouri had at QB prior to getting Pribula was Sam Horn and Drew Pyne. Fans have always been excited about Horn"s potential but he has not seen the field much. He is also a good baseball pitcher and it is possible if he does well in that sport this spring he could be gone to the MLB draft this summer.

Eli Drinkwitz has always let Sam pursue his baseball options but the team needed another option for fall football camp just in case. He liked what he saw in Beau Pribula and got his man.
