I would rather Barrow and the ULM guy over Williams
Supposedly we have pivoted to Barrow, but Miami is after him too and they are in full on desperation mode. We can't outbid John Ruiz if he wants to over pay.

Yeah, I know. I had A&M in my head for some reason.

On the upside for transfer portal madness, this has given us 6+ pages of offseason content to rant about.

And even more importantly some good convo between mizzou, ou and Texas . Pretty rare

one of the Texas "insiders" is saying that this may drag out until tomorrow..
this isn't a good look no matter how you slice it..

BOOM!!
Where do I start this entire process has been a whirlwind. Sooner nation I want you to know at the end of the day I chose you because of relationships with Coach V & Coach Bates & the staff. They were genuine & I believe in their ability to develop me as a man & a player & prepare me for the next level. I can’t wait to get to work with my teammates!! You will get my best version & my best effort. I am blue collar & I love to compete at the highest level. God Bless & Boomer Sooner!!

no shock here.. this had OU written all over it from the beginning.. they got him to enter the portal and they got first visit..
On this visit, they told him that they would match his best offer..
So he explored his offers from all schools..
then went back to OU.. and the deal was done when they matched it..
I wish his approach had been different.. we could have used his talent.. but this kid turned out to be exactly what Texas didn’t need this year..
Sounds like a good fit/miss for all schools involved.. OU got a good one.

I agree, although don't get me wrong, I wanted him. He's a helluva player. But, I don't know that he would justify the asking price.
If he would have picked Mizzou it would have been more of a symbolic victory, going up against the other three schools.

The kid hired a complete POS gangster from California to negotiate the bidding process. Maybe this is common for highly ranked portal recruits, but word is this was an especially gross process all the way around. OU perfect fit.
Not that bummed about this one- he wasn’t exactly lighting the word on fire this past season and we have some depth already in place at tackle. Hes also less than six feet tall.
No sour grapes.

This guy is getting half the money too. The very thing NIL was supposed to get rid of

Crazy. I guess every sports site that shows him being 6"2 is just wrong huh?

Yep, these kids that chase the money and are purely motivated by the highest NIL bids are not players I would want in our program. Been there.
That's the biggest challenge for any program today. Sifting through all the crap to land players who truly want to be developed, understand that nothing is given to your in life and ideally they recognize the opportunities provided to them as student athletes.
Unfortunately, these kids are harder and harder to find. Up to the recruiting staffs to try to weed through it all.
What happened with Damonic is a perfectly example. I would bet that he leaves OU for the highest bidder after this season unless OU was able to do a 2-year deal committment.
Either way, congrats OU. A very nice pickup for a position of great need. Kudos.
