He’s a frikkin wizard. I looked at his record at OU over the years and he had a really good record almost every year. What happened to make him leave OU?

I think they just got outbid by IU.
Hoosiers forced him to resign over the horror of texting a recruit.

He left Oklahoma for the job at Indiana. Then he was fired from Indiana for violations. He’s basically Indiana’s Will Wade. Indiana would be good AF right now, instead they suck.

There were NCAA issues. He practically ignored a lot of recruiting rules, and it was catching up with him at OU. It did catch up to him at Indiana.

It wasn't just that. Sampson and his staff just ignored all the contact rules for recruiting. It has been rumored that OU and Indiana really didn't want to go digging too deeply into what his staff was up to.

He’s a helluva coach. That defense is ferocious. Suffocating.

Just was telling the wife, he was the one to bring Indiana back, but he violated rules.

He nickname at OU was Kelvin Samsung. He could help but call recruits in the dead period and he got violations.

Recruiting violations which now wouldn’t be an issue. We miss him badly. His teams from 2000-2005 were a joy to watch with OU’s only regular season conference title, three conference tournament titles, and a 2002 Final Four appearance which should have won it all.

Yes it was stuff that would be considered ridiculous today. Calling recruits too many times or at the wrong time. NCAA was after him. It was stupid

He did great at OU.

NCAA Violations. Got OU put on probation. Hence the nickname 'Kelvin Samsung'. His violations are considered tame in the NIL era though. We've never been as good of a program since Sampson was let go.
