One of the most entertaining hard nose players I remember watching several years back

was Jacob Hester. Just flat out fun to watch him between the tackles. I miss the ole HB, FB grinding offenses in college football.

Used to work with his aunt. She had a huge blown up photo of his game winning TD. She is the sister of former nfl wr pat tilley. When I was a kid, we would play pick up games with some of his old NFL footballs. We thought that was so cool.

Derrick Henry rarely smiles during interviews.
What led to Henry having a big smile that Monday? A question about walk-on tight end/H-back Michael Nysewander and blocks No. 46 made to help Henry run for 210 yards and three touchdowns during the Tide's 30-16 win over then-No. 2 LSU Saturday night.
"Highway 46. I'm rocking with him the whole way."
Nysewander, a redshirt senior who went to Hoover High School, is a popular player among Alabama players and coaches, a walk-on who has become a contributor on both offense and special teams for the Tide.
Typically stoic Alabama coach Nick Saban admitted earlier this season that he got choked up on the sideline watching Nysewander score a 19-yard touchdown during the Tide's win over Louisiana Monroe in September.
"He's just one of those throwback players to me," Saban said Wednesday. "You've got to love him. I get a smile on my face every time I talk about him. He's just a tough grinder. He's worked hard, and it's finally paying off for him."
He was recently nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is presented to the top player in the country who began his career as a walk-on.
IIRC, he's now an Offensive Analyst for Ole Miss.

Played HS for Evangel, saw him against W.Monroe in State Championship … which he won. Loved his work ethic and attitude. Those Evangel-W.Monroe games were amazing back then…but probably helped cause the split in the LHSAA private-public.
In my opinion, the quality of HS football in Louisiana has declined quite a bit since the split. Still lots of individual good players, just a lot fewer good teams. The split has not been good for most of LA. Oh well…

My wife's favorite play of all time. Hester up the middle. Didn't matter the game. She still calls for Hester up the middle.
