I believe the unspoken agenda behind this is simple. saban believes some of his players have been participating in sports gambling. Hopefully they get some help.

Yeah, I’m sure he didn’t have Pete Rose come speak because gambling has been an issue at other schools, or with the former baseball coach, or with young players in the NFL. Saban would never try to get out in front of something. It’s because it’s ongoing on the current Alabama football team, Pawl!

I think its a bigger issue than we know. I said that from the start. With a weak NCAA and gambling available anywhere now, it's bound to happen.
With all that is coming out in Iowa look for more. I'm sure its a problem at most schools, especially the big NIL schools.

If 19 year old me is a 3rd string linebacker at a big SEC school, and on Thursday night my QB goes down with a high ankle sprain while doing shots at a kegger and I am the only that knows about it, it is my fiduciary responsibility to have my "Uncle" log onto his draft king account and lay the points on the road that weekend.

It's a problem with many broke college students in general. When I was in school the bookies preyed on college kids. One of my fraternity brothers got in so deep with one of them that his parents had to withdraw him from school.
