I miss that era. Most dramatic defensive game I’ve ever watched

Good point - I agree.

I never thought about that season in that way. The impact got lost in my repressed memories of wanting to jump off the Superdome in the Natty and then wanting to jump off Tiger Stadium after the TJ Yeldon screen pass the following year.

The atmosphere on campus was incredible.

Man, I forgot about that Tornado. Didn’t the girlfriend of the punter or kicker pass away in the storm?

I was on Alabama's campus that day. Very memorable.

That game and the two months after certainly nudged us to the awful playoff we have today.

Remember the SEC was not thought highly off till the SEC team that barely won a ton of SEC games dominated the "one of the best teams ever" in the Title game in 2006..they had insane hype....Florida vs OSU

and we kicked their arse 41-14 and made them our little bitch. Remember, a ton of people wanted OSU to play Michigan and said UF has no chance..We very much made OSU look very easy and were very clearly better. We dominated them, was not a few lucky bouncies.

In the video, at 17:13, that is the foreshadowing play that will haunt me. Bama didn't quite get it there, but 365 days later that play was a kick in the nuts for all time.

This play always stood out to me. Hightower's perfect technique to meet Ware in the hole one on one and standing him up for a big stop. He made a similar play against Lynch before the int in Super Bowl. Dude was amazing.

The :33 mark has a great slow motion replay.

The 2011 LSU Defense would be recognized as the best Defense of the quarter century if they had any offense at all in the last game.

The top 4 of 2001-2025 Have 2011 LSU, 2011 Bama, 2012 LSU, 2012 Bama in some order

If it makes you feel better, Georgia has done it to us.

It is very hard to go 2-0 in the same season against a very good team.

Exactly…. People want runs not pitching duels, lots of touchdowns over defense games,

2 best games I’ve seen… lsu Alabama 2011 and lsu wake Forest in Omaha. Most intense can’t sit still, all conversation stops type games.

As far as the national championship game people forget bama kick 5 field goals. Before the final touchdown. LSU was “in” game score wise but bamas defense never budged.

This was one of the most epic, hard fought, drama filled games between two really great teams no matter what happened on 1/12.

I thought immediately it was the best, most evenly matched game I had ever watched.

These were the games I loved to love back in the early days - defense was king -

That SEASON was the most consequential season in FBS history.

The knee jerk response to the rematch was an overreaction and overcorrection, leading to the bloated playoffs we have now.

Bama was the better team in Tuscaloosa. They choked that game away. That is why I wanted nothing to do with them in the NCG. I knew a whipping was coming. And CNS delivered it.
