Sure hate to see Kentucky and Tennessee matched up. But with so many teams in, it was bound to happen

Two more teams and it would have been statistically impossible for there to not be an SEC vs SEC matchup in the S16.

Hogs playing together and getting a key piece in theiro back!

I'd take Arkansas and the points in this one.

If I were a betting man, I would throw my entire life savings on Bama’s -4.5. No possible way they don’t cover that spread.

Ken Pom has it as Bama #6 vs BYU #24, but as was mentioned they were playing high level basketball down the stretch.

The interesting thing to watch is that both teams have top ten offenses (BAMA 4, BYU 9), but the defenses arent nearly as good (Bama 29, BYU 71) so I could see it being a really fun game to watch.

And for anyone who discounts advanced analytics, KenPom had 12 of the 16 sweet sixteen teams in his top 16 going into the tournament.

1) Duke
2) Houston
3) Florida
4) Auburn
5) Tennessee
6) Alabama
7) Michigan St
8) Texas Tech

I’m hearing Maryland’s coach didn’t even show up to the team dinner. Apparently he has already accepted the Villanova job. I guess he will still coach the game but he has checked out. That is dirty.

Sorry, you mean 2 more teams in the Sweet 16 not the tournament.

Sorry, I gotcha.

Not sure Villanova is a better job anymore.

Does seem like a sideways move. The Maryland AD already left, and apparently the coach, Willard, complained about NIL efforts. Seems odd, because the biggest reason they are in the Sweet 16 is that they ponied up for Derik Queen, the 5-star center and likely lottery pick.

7 teams made it to the Sweet 16. Theoretically, it was possible that every S16 game featured 1 SEC team vs another team - and that's true if 8 teams had made it.

If 9 teams had made it, then even the most favorable bracket and set of outcomes would have resulted in at least 1 game that was SEC vs SEC. There would've been too many SEC teams to avoid that scenario.

If 5 teams win, then there has to be at least 1 E8 game between SEC teams. Because Tennessee and Kentucky are already playing, ensuring at least 1 SEC loss, that means that we would need at least two more losses to avoid another SEC vs SEC matchup (either Auburn or Ole Miss losing, and either Arkansas or Florida losing). If the only SEC loss is in the UT vs UK game, we get two E8 games with SEC vs SEC.

Yeah, of course Villanova doesn't have football, so more NIL money

You don’t need fuel for a Sweet 16 game, they will play as hard as they can regardless.

It’s a fact he air-balled the dinner and is talking to Nova.

Damn. That sucks for those Maryland players who have worked hard to be where they’re at.
