Under the new rule approved Wednesday, if medical personnel enter the field to evaluate an injured player after the ball is spotted by the officiating crew for the next play, that player's team will be charged a timeout. If the team doesn't have any timeouts remaining, a 5-yard delay-of-game penalty will be assessed.
The proposal to adjust the injury timeout rule resulted from teams faking injuries to stop their opponents' momentum or avoid using an allotted timeout.
Well it’s a start. I wonder how Kiffin will adjust to the new rule.

Come on man, you guys used to say that Lane was actually a genius for faking 10 injuries a game bc he was challenging the NCAA.

This is the cope Ole Miss fans made up when they became a national laughingstock for faking injuries.

lol some dude is going to blow his ACL and cost his team the game and we’ll revisit this as insane.

If he blows his acl he'll be down before the ball is spotted. So we won't be revisiting this.

will the officials not mark the ball if a player is down?
because this relies on the medical staff getting there before the ball is set

Schools are gonna start recruiting 4.4/40 medical staffs and pay them NIL.

The lack of foresight by the leaders of everything in this world is so bad lately it seems deliberate.
The reason kids fall down(in legitimate cases) after standing up is because it's the only way to stop the clock. If you have an upper body injury for example and you just try to run off the field, play won't stop and your team will get screwed. You have to fall to the ground to stop the clock to get the injury timeout you need.
This shite didn't exist when I was younger because it didn't need to. You could easily run, or even limp off the field between plays. But now football has gone from strategic plays to gimmicks and doing basic things like substituting between plays has been allowed to be dictated by the offense and it's terrible.
And rather than address that, they go and add in a rule that completely lacks foresight. Just inviting themselves to get sued.

Just require anyone injured to sit out the next 3 plays. Special teams plays don't county. If you are on offense, you miss 3 offensive plays in row. If on defense, you miss 3 defensive plays in a row.
This shite will come to an end VERY quickly.
