I tried out in 9th grade and wasn’t man enough to do it lol.
I quit in 9th grade to focus on other sports but really because the two toughest, meanest guys in my class were my size and I didn’t see a path to varsity. Most 14 year olds don’t understand that is a great opportunity rather than a burden.

“Anyone who has wrestled knows that it’s the hardest thing in the world to do,” he told Flowrestling. “Anyone who says something else is the hardest thing has never wrestled. That’s what I have found. … You don't wrestle because it's easy, you wrestle because it's hard. I don't do astrophysics because it's easy, I do it because it's hard. And I juxtapose the two in my mind, body, and soul all the time.”" Neil de Grasse Tyson
Never wrestled but remembered reading the above and thought, damn that's really cool.

Does anyone know if they have any events like this in KC coming up?

Drinkwitz is showing what can be done in this state when you get everyone pulling in the same direction. And if he could effectively seal the borders, Missouri could be a serious player year in and year out.
Let's not go crazy here. Missouri is never going to be a serious player every year if the best they can recruit is 24th in the country. You might find some diamonds in the rough and have a top 10 team every 7 years or so, but that's it. And I think you guys are about to start doing worse in the SEC with the new alignment. Mizzou lucked up by being in the Eastern Division, just like you guys did this season and only had to face the worst and 3rd best teams in the West.

It's wrestling practice... Not Navy Seal hell week.
How would you come close knowing what either one requires mentally and physically? Having been through USMC IOC which is every bit as physically demanding as BUDs but requiring a great deal more mentally. Wrestling in both HS (IL) and College I can say that by the time it came to the physical frick with your head games I was more than prepared to deal with whatever was thrown at me due to my time wrestling and then being a Cadet at the Citadel. Oh and understand BUds isn’t some end all be all as it’s made out to be. IOC, BUDs Ranger School, Q Course, Unit Selection etc…are designed to weed out the weak and not one is worse than the other. They just differ with how they torture you.

If you want to do MMA/UFC stuff, especially takedowns and submissions, you're better off with Judo or Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
As a former wrestler I can say this is true. If you wrestled for 12 years like me and try to compete without being able to really practice and learn submission or counters, you will beat the hell out of a guy only to get caught in a arm bar or such and loose.

The OU bathroom bar fight where the wrestlers destroy those 2 football backups was gold. Watch the video and you’d be proud.

Obligatory who cares. We only care about the Big 3 around here.

Nope that ran a small tourney at Staley earlier this season but nothing else in KC.

Yeah but wrestling is typically a much easier route for the majority of kids to go through since it’s funded by high schools. After high school they then either wrestle in college or get into other martial arts.

Yeah. They won't have the East to cry about next year so I'm sure it'll move onto some other bullshite.

I’ve done some killer track workouts - 10 miles at 6:00 min pace or 12x400 @ 70 seconds with a minute rest, hill sprints, with event-specific lifting, etc. Really hard stuff.
For elite runners those workouts wouldn't be hard at all.
Just like if you are training with a crappy teammate in wrestling... it's not hard to wipe the floor with the guy.
You train with a really good teammate. It's hell. He tears you up.
An elite runner could run 10 miles in 50 minutes or do 12 x 400 in probably 64 seconds while you would have to quit the workout. Same difference.

Big 12 Title is in Tulsa, it’s most likely going to be us 2.
None of the Kansas schools have wrestling so KC is a missed opportunity…however a dual/ tourney featuring Mizzou & OSU would draw at least 35,000k attendance if not more depending on rank.
