16-4 and already played Kentucky Auburn and Tennessee.

Two sec road wins with are hard to come by for teams not named Auburn. If we finish our 7-4 and are 23-8 I feel we are going to be a 3/4 seed in the tourney.

Outside of the off night at AU, I have been impressed with MSU this season. We were fortunate Hubbard was in a slump and you had no idea how we were going to play that first game without Broome.

I knew they were legit when they beat McNeese. State’s gonna make some noise this March for real.

vs #4 Alabama
vs #22 Missouri
@ Georgia
vs #5 Florida
@ #16 Ole Miss
vs #13 Texas A&M
@ Oklahoma
@ #4 Alabama
vs LSU
vs Texas
@ Arkansas

You probably will be a 3/4 seed if you finish 7-4.

Quietly? Vandy is the team quietly building resume. You all ring cowbells and not so subtly talk about how you’re winning.

You’re building a nice resume. It’s not quiet.

Very impressive thing your coach is doing. It’s good for State and the conference as a whole.

Not having an experienced PG on the court to facilitate the ball to the shooters is hurting our offense. Our fans & podcasters keep mentioning Josh’s slump. He is better when he can get in a “catch & shoot” rhythm.
I could see us losing 4 or 5 more games if Kugel or Matthews struggle on any given night.

Hopefully Clary will get to return at some point as he is a true PG and gives us a nine man rotation which is so important in basketball.
Depth is paramount to keep guys fresh, plug in when there is foul trouble and give the other team more players to have to scout for.

Even though Hubbard has struggled some shooting the ball, he is eventually going to have some big games.

And yes, when you are ranked in top 15-20 teams, you are not quietly building a resume.

Unless the rotations change soon, yes. Has been that way for decades. Which makes sense. State and Bama are the two closest schools geographically in the conference. Also the rivalry that Stansbury and Gottfried had in the 2000’s was awesome.

It’s the best team Jans has had and I think they have a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 ceiling if they are playing well and have the right matchups in March. I could also see them going one and done.

They frankly have not played particularly well since the Kentucky game and very nearly mismanaged their way into losses against OM and SC. Neither of those games should’ve been close and somehow both ended up in overtime.

Hubbard has not been efficient for most of SEC play and Matthews has really struggled recently. They’re going to struggle to win many more SEC games without those two improving their play.

Two big home games against Bama and Mizzou this week. I think you really need to win at least one of them if you want to have a chance of reaching your ceiling (which in my mind is roughly a 3 or 4 seed). Right now they’d likely be pretty firm 5 seed.

Looking at their schedule, a 7-4 finish would be about right, or maybe even better than expected.

I worry about their ability to generate enough offense against Bama on Wednesday, but overall they are a very solid team.

I would say a 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament is likely at this point. Honestly, even 10-8 in league might get them a 4 seed. 5 seed at worst.

I would say Final Four is their ceiling, but I agree with your overall point about their potential to make a run. Also that they could lose in the first round to a 12 seed.

I think opponents are figuring out that they don't really have many other great ways to generate offense outside of Hubbard.

Losing that Kentucky game at home sucked. Sounds silly, but they really needed that game. State was a 5.5-point favorite for a reason.

Kentucky shot 16-32 from the three point line
against State.
They will beat anyone and everyone when they shoot like that.
Sometimes you have to give credit to the other team.

I can’t buy State beating Bama until I actually see it. Jans has had no answer for Oates’ offense to this point.

I think it’s a mental thing with State vs Kentucky at this point. Worse teams have been able to beat UK the the last 3 years. State has been a home favorite against them 3 years in a row and lost all 3 times.
