But hey, between Gus/Chad/Steele, it's hard to argue with an Auburn fan about good coaching hires!

What kind of hire was Craig? I noticed you ignored that part. Wasn't he at LSU for like one year?

And you all made him the highest paid DC in the country

Actually, Aranda was the top paid in the nation. Steele was fourth......but why let BS get in the way of the truth?

LSU knows when to move on from a shitty coach.

Auburn, not so much!

I don't understand what is hard for you to grasp......unless you don't know what a PGC is.

You clearly dont understand Linehan's job is much different from Brady's last year in case you still dont get it, despite that 1 similar title.

Again, not installing any new offense, also not coaching WRs. These are major differences. Everyone fills roles differently and will have different responsibilities from team to team and even on that team year to year. What Brady did is not exactly the same as what Linehan will be doing. Linehan will be helping out in the pass game, Brady did way more.

You're explaining a part of a PGC's role, how that role is completely fulfilled is up to the coaching staff to give then said responsibilities.

The difference between the responsibilities of what Brady did last year and Linehan will have this year is pretty great.

There are a lot of college OC's not making $1.5M per year.

Brady's extension was somewhere between 800k and 900k per year.

I think the plan was E would either retire soon or revert back to being a position coach and Brady would be the OC going forward.

Not sure O expected an NFL team to make Joe their OC so soon since he had no history of calling plays prior to 2019 and from all indications, was only calling around 10% of them then.

And we fired the coach responsible for 3 of those 4

Our current coach is 3-0 against Awwdern.

And has 25 wins in the last two years - your coach has 27 in the last three years.

(Oh, and the whole 15-0 natty thing)

Let's see how he does without Brady and Burrow?

Post your prediction so I can bitch slap you again down the road.

You have an OC who has never had that position for more than three consecutive years and a PGC who doesn't run that offense. Nothing can go wrong with that combination.

kind of figured they'd started running the college version of the Saints offense and would keep kind of being the feeder system for it - hire a junior member of Payton's offensive staff that he recommended, that guy has a few good years and goes back to the NFL, rinse repeat. Seemed like a pretty damn scary proposition, IMHO.

My thoughts as well

It's a head scratcher of a hire. He's your pgc for an offense he doesn't run. Not saying he's not capable, but...odd

I'm not excited or disappointed...just MEH

Coming from the guy who won’t even accept a bet on something he was absolutely certain would happen (no more spread for LSU)

Pathetic barners are just upset you’re now middle of the pack in the division and bottom middle in the conference

Payton was displeased when LSU got Brady. This scenario would not be one he would like, at all.

I told you I would bet $1 gazillion.....not a penny less or more.

(there is nothing more dumb than making a bet against somebody I have never met.........nor will never meet)

.....but if you want to bet $1 gazillion, I'm in!

Chad Morris. He is the one who brought the system Clemson still uses.

quote:

The 2 years prior to Morris' arrival, Clemson went a combined 15–12, including a record of 6–7 in 2010. Morris introduced a hurry-up, spread offense that helped Clemson to a 42–11 mark over the next four seasons.

Who just called the greatest offense in our history. Our HC hasn't been a HC for more than 3 years ever, either

Man you're dense if you're still running with this angle. Pretty awful, even from you.

A guy with 15+ years NFL experience and 10+ years college coaching experience all as QB, WR, OC, PGC will have a hard time grasping how to provide input on passing plays in an offense that isn't exactly something new or earth shattering in terms of concepts. You'd think with the way you're talking he's coming into a triple option team or something

Help coordinate passing plays in an already established offense. And you think he's never seen go routes, slants and rub route concepts in his 25+ years of coaching in the NFL and college? There's nothing conceptually special about the offense we run, it's not some super secret concepts and way out there. Plenty of college teams run a similar offense out of shotgun with short and long passing concepts with things like rub routes. Heck, Bama wasn't exactly a ton different themselves just more short passing game heavy than we were.

The explosion in the offense last year was due to the stars aligning in multiple ways. Just unfortunate it took so long to bring a fully modern offense to LSU with our talent.

Precisely what I have said ad nauseam. You just left out the part about him doing it out of a play book that is foreign to him.

I am sure he has.....yet his O doesn't resemble Payton's in any way, shape, or form.

Every NFL team runs those routes. Since that is the case, why doesn't every NFL offense look the same?
