Aaron in Little Rock, Ark., writes: Of the wide receivers that made your top 30 list, I still can't believe Greg Childs wasn't the second overall, if not highest ranked. He led all receivers in SEC conference play in total receiving yards, yards per game, touchdowns and yards per reception. Every touchdown he scored this season was in conference play only, so his numbers weren't inflated at all during nonconference games. Granted, he didn't make first or second team all-SEC, which was a gross oversight by the AP and coaching staffs. How can you lead all SEC wide receivers in every stat category except for receptions in conference play and not get mentioned anywhere?

Chris Low: Now that you put it that way, I’d have to say that it’s hard to argue with your point. What you do against SEC competition should always outweigh everything else, and Childs was outstanding in conference games. In addition to the numbers you point out, I checked with the folks at Arkansas, and Childs also led the SEC in catches of 25 or more yards (13) and catches in the fourth quarter (16). Here’s another one for you: He led the nation in receiving yards against Top 25 teams (402). So he was more than deserving of being on that top 30 list, and I can promise you he will be on the one I do this summer leading into the 2010 season. Unfortunately, there are always oversights when you start ranking players, especially in this league. Thanks for your input.

He dropped way too many passes last year. If this improves he'll get more recognition.

This is why he doesn't get the recognition quite yet. Fixes this and he could be one of the best in the SEC.

Thing is, he would make abrilliant diving catch or something looking all world one minute and then drop a simple 5 yarder.

Guy is a beast though. He fights harder after the catch than anyone I can remember.

reminds me of Marcus Monk the way he looks, especially since they wear the same number. Childs is more talented though.

Even WITH the drops he's one of the best in the SEC. Numbers don't lie.

Agree. First televised game of the year (GA?), he caught everything in sight and then the next time I saw him he couldn't catch a cold.

He's got the tools to be great; just needs to work on focus and concentration.

Darvin Adams had across the board better numbers than Childs and also did not make the 1st or 2nd team All-SEC. So quit crying

Duh I have Heard of him, but have not seen him do anything like I have seen Childs do. Not that I have actually watched watched Julio much to make an honest assesment on him.

Who? I kid, I kid.

One thing that bears repeating is that Childs and the rest of the Arkansas WR's are at somewhat of a disadvantage in terms of catching passes. Like DJ Williams said, Mallett throws the ball hard enough to rip their gloves off (which has happened). So it's not like these guys are catching soft, looped passes.

Here ya go sweetheart:

Arkansas 44 Lawlburn 23

Childs: 5 for 85 yards - 17.0 YPC - 1 TD - Long 38

Adams: 3 for 24 yards - 8.0 YPC - 0 TD - Long 14

Head to head. Poooooor Darvin

That's a meaningless comparison, Sao, and you know it. Using that method, Snead > Mallett.

i remember him from the bama game. dropping easy catches, getting popped going over the middle, and generally playing scared.

Just be glad yall have a QB who can actually get the ball to the reciever. I cant even tell you how many time I saw Todd try to throw a simple swing pass to Mario Fannin and it never even make it to him. Or it was behind Fannin, which caused him to stop running, which then lead to the defender closing on him and killing him.
