Texas Football Schedule 2024
Aug. 31 vs. Colo. State - W
Sept. 7 at Michigan - W
Sept. 14 vs. UTSA - W
Sept. 21 vs. UL Monroe - W
Sept. 28 vs. Mississippi St. - W
Oct. 5 Idle
Oct. 12 vs. Oklahoma - W
Oct. 19 vs. Georgia - L
Oct. 26 at Vanderbilt - W
Nov. 2 Idle
Nov. 9 vs. Florida - W
Nov. 16 at Arkansas - W
Nov. 23 vs. Kentucky - W
Nov. 30 at Texas A&M - L
Texas is going 10-2 and will play in the SEC championship game. Man that schedule set up nicely for you guys. Michigan is down. State and Fla suck, Arky is down. Georgia at home is a winnable game, as is A&M on the road, I just think the Ags are gonna pull the upset here, so I went with my gut. Of course the RRR can always go either way.
What sez the rant? Will Texas have a banner year in its maiden SEC season?

they will, not only because they are legit a very good team but they've been gifted about the best possible SEC schedule you could hope for.
They play 4 of the 5 worst teams in the conference. They have 3 true SEC away games, 2 of which are at those awful teams. They avoid Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss. OU is neutral and UGA is at home.
They should absolutely go no worse than 9-3, which they could probably do without even trying too hard. They are practically a lock for the playoffs, IMO.

10-2 is a good guess with 1 loss to Georgia. The other could come from anyone that views us as a rival so OU/Arkansas/aggy.

I just thought about something. What if Texas plays Oklahoma in the SEC championship this season? Boy that would be embarrassing.

Michigan is down.
Then again, as the shorthorns prepare for a new conference, Michigan takes sole aim at the shorthorns because they don't play much of a schedule either. If Sarkisian doesn't win that one, in the Big House, every misstep in the SEC becomes magnified.

I think they beat UGA at home. That is going to be an unreal weekend in Austin with UGA and the Grand Prix. Texas will almost certainly put all of their eggs in that basket.
I would go as far as to say they lose to Oklahoma and beat UGA.

A couple of things that you will soon learn about Texas joining a league you are in...
1) Arkansas and aTm are both losable games for Texas: The hatred in these rivalries did not just start this year. The hatred goes back over 100 years.
2) Texas quite often, finds a way to frick it up. Just to put it mildly.

Texas is the only school in the country playing the teams that have won the last 3 national titles.
Texas plays 3 huge rivalry games and none of them are at home.
Texas is playing an SEC schedule.
When you see people saying Texas has an 'easy' schedule, you are seeing people with a bias against Texas who are already laying a foundation of propaganda, because they are worried Texas might have a nice season.

I’d love to see that. I can imagine the messages that I’d read on this board if that happened.

As a Texas fan I have learned over the years that there are no schedules that set up nicely for Texas. Texas could beat the Super Bowl champs but lose to both West Indiana State and my sons 8th grade football team.

The "Michigan is down" stuff I'm not really buying. Sure they're breaking in a new QB, (coach isn't really new, he stood in for suspended Harbaugh last season) but they return most all the defense that was the real strength of the team last year.
Having said that, last season myself and many Longhorns thought we matched up better with Michigan vs having to play Washington. I think we can win this for sure, (game 2 last year was at Bryant Denny, ain't scared of big houses) but it won't be as easy as some seem to think.

I could see that happening. And then throw in another loss that shouldn’t happen. But still making the playoffs.

I can tell you have been OTR for a while because you already sound like an LSU fan. Everyone is not out to get you.

I don’t particularly disagree with this take. With 2 losses it’s really just a crapshoot on making the SEC title game though. At best you’re stuck in a multi-way tie you have to win and that’s hoping something like a one loss Missouri doesn’t get in, etc.
If I were to create a metric on difficulty/win percentage of our games Georgia and @A&M would be graded closely and @Michigan and neutral site OU would be graded similarly but a little tier below.
You take a good tick down on difficulty rating once you descend past those four games.
I would go with 11-1 but I haven’t chosen where the loss will come - but I’d be more inclined to have it at A&M. Really has nothing to do with Georgia. That road Aggie game at the end of the year just feels like one of those games you will be fighting against many things. No matter where exactly the teams lie in the SEC standings that last week Kyle Field should be insane. I think there’s still a decent chance that both teams could be in playoff hunt, but A&M would most likely be more in the position of having to win then Texas if that were the case.

Lol, Texas ain't winning at Piggy's house.
And to those of you who say that they're going to beat Georgia...you know nothing about football. Smart's going to have his Dawgs ready to put the Hornies in their place, and you can bet they will.

I mean I would predict us to win but I don' think it's that far fetched to suggest otherwise.

i don't agree with this at all. I think as far as SEC shcedules go, Texas's IS about as "easy"as you could hope for. Look at the media's preseason SEC picks. The bottom 6 teams in order are Kentucky, Florida, SC, Ark, MSU, Vandy. Of the 6 worst teams in the league, Texas plays 5 of them. Look at the top 7 teams: Georgia, Texas, Bama, OM, LSU, missouri, Tenn. Texas plays 1 of them (at home).
I mean you really couldn't draw it up any more perfectly if you were a Texas fan. That's not trying to downplay Texas's inevitable success or anythign, it's simply pointing out facts.
Compare that schedule to OU's which is basically the inverse, a lot of top heavy teams and hardly any of the bottom dwellers. Looking at those schdules side by side it's real easy to see which one is "easy" and which one isn't.
And lastly, I'll reiterate what I said in my first post, which is that TExas IS legit a really damn good team this year and would win a lot of games even with a tougher schedule. So I'm not "laying a foundation" as you say for when that happens.

Yawn… sounds like what they said about going into Bama’s house last year.
