If Florida makes a move, someone other than Scott Striklin needs to navigate it. Disaster of an extension and buyout with Mullen and now apparently a failed hire in Napier. He will do all he can to keep him in order to save his own arse. Going to be fun to watch.

Congrats to Eli Drinkwitz for moving up in the coaching world and getting his name dropped for these jobs! If he is on a list with Malzahn and Kiffin he has arrived.
Why isn't Heupel on the list if he is so great?
Anyway, at this point I think Florida should make Spurrier a consultant and let him find the next coach if it comes to that. He may be the only one down there that knows what he is doing.
Amazing what one winning season at Mizzou can do for a coach.

Fla admins have not paid the money in recent hires. Why do you think they will now. They stink for a reason.

I see Florida hiring the wake forest coach

Lost in all of this is that UF has one of the worst school administrations in the SEC, and Stricklin's athletic department isn't exactly top tier either.

Is Napier that bad and/ or is Florida’s admin a dumpster fire? If it’s the admin, hiring another coach won’t patch it over.

Wrong. Mizzou was always a sleeping giant that just needed the right coach and situation to come along. Drink and the current NIL landscape have awoken the sleeping giant, and the SEC best get used to Mizzou being a contender for the next 20 years

If the Iowa job becomes available Stoops wants it bad!

I still think Kiffin would jump at Florida.
I still think he would go for an insane, BK-esque guaranteed money deal, but it would be a harder choice than in the past. He has a good thing going at OM, and OM has adapted much better to the NIL era than UF.
At the end of the day, though, Lane's from Florida, still owns a house in Florida, and UF still has tremendous upside if they can ever get their shite together. No state income tax doesn't hurt, either.
UF is nuts if they don't throw the bank at him. Malzahn could be a good #2 or #3. But they really need a proven turnaround guy, and Lane's proven himself in that regard.

Various media outlets are mentioning these guys along with a few others (namely Univ of Washington's HC, Jedd Fisch).
None of the above. ALABAMA is playing against the next Florida head coach. He's an ex-Tenn OC and he's running the same scheme and seems to be getting South Florida up the food chain. The Gators really don't have to think out of the box for a guy who is doing business in Tampa.

Napier is the 17th highest paid coach right now. Paid more than Venables, Lanning or Hugh Freeze. Only a few hundred thousand a year less than Cristobal or Gundy.
I don't think money is the issue.

Eli Drinkwitz
Third on the list is Eli Drinkwitz, the Missouri Tigers skipper who has made waves by trolling the Gators in the past. “If Tigers reach the College Football Playoff, it will be difficult to convince Drinkwitz to leave,” Hayes points out.
This pairing seems fairly unlikely as Drinkwitz has something going in Columbia that would take multiple seasons to achieve again in Gainesville. Especially moving across the conference, it seems like a lateral move at best for him.

Lane won't touch that dumpster fire. Neither will Drinkwitz.
Is Gus dumb enough to take that job? I'd guess no, but maybe.

One thing we learned about Gus at Auburn is that he is stubborn. I think he would take the job at UF because he still believes that his offense is some secret sauce that nobody else has. The schedule is brutal next year too, so any coach taking that job has their work cut out for them.
