Took Kirby just 117 games to hit that mark. By comparison Saban hit it at 118 games and Spurrier 120 games

It's worth noting that unlike Saban and Spurrier, this is Kirby's first HC gig.

Because he was born on 3rd base. He didn't have to build a program like LSU or rebuild a program like Alabama.

Good example of why these kinds of stats are pretty dumb. They have no context.

Would he have gotten to 100 that fast playing in the SEC West?

In defense of Saban he took over a wretched LSU program. The recruiting approach that Saban ended up implementing at Alabama, and Kirby replicated at UGA, is the genesis of both their success. No one in the whole country was going out and putting together classes like Alabama and UGA now stack. Just wasn’t done.

You're giving Richt way too much credit. He hadn't been to the SECCG since 2012.

His teams were under performing, but they were pre-season favorites pretty often when I was growing up.

You're just trying to shite on Richt to make Kirby look better. Don't do that. You were a good program and Kirby did exactly what he was hired to do. He's currently the best coach in college football and doesn't need it.

If Alabama hadn't got that stop in 2012, you'd have won the NC.

We were never better than 6th overall in recruiting in his final 5 seasons (2011-15).

Kirby was #6 on a recruiting class he largely inherited at the end of the 2015 season when Richt was let go after the regular season finale and only went up from there.

Nobody's disputing that. The intimation is that Smart inherited a program that was chock full of blue chip talent, and that simply isn't true.

In comparison to 1999 LSU and 2006 Alabama?

Come on.

Richt did fall off in the latter half of his tenure, but Kirby took over a team coming off of consecutive ten win seasons, but still underperforming.

Everything was there for new blood to step in and immediately compete for SEC championships.

However, the CFP is a factor other coaches didn’t face. It’s only a handful of games, but Kirby had tough games added to his first 100 by competing several times in the playoffs.
