I’ve never see an umpire crew operate like last night

It was very strange.. it almost seemed like the crew was protecting Vitello & Tennessee…
-Second base ump giving Tony V the secret nod to get back to the dug out to avoid accidentally going out for his second visit of the Inning. Saving them from putting in a cold pitcher at a pivotal moment
-Same umpire singling out a student in right field and having him ejected….?? Never seen that before.
-Home plate ump mouthing off to Jones after the walk off so he wouldn’t hurt UTs feelings.
It felt very off…

It, unfortunately, felt very typical. More terrible college baseball umpiring. And you left out the part about the home plate ump being really terrible calling balls and strikes (though certainly for both teams). Just another poorly umped SEC baseball game. Rinse and repeat.

It wasn't a nod, you could read his lips. He was charging toward the mound to meet Vitello, twice saying, "you already used a visit." It was bizarre.

Honestly there’s probably a lot of benefits that come with crying and acting like a preteen all game like Vitello does. Tennessee melting over that clear check swing was something else.

And Texas cut of air conditioning, come on man, you won and you still whine?

And to think, less than a year ago every school was killing itself to hire Tony V

Replay of game
Go to the 10:15 mark, you can see the ump telling him they already made a visit.

Umps are just neanderthals with a Napoleon Complex.

how did that not count as a mound visit? Are coaches allowed to walk all the way to the pitcher to stall as many times as they want as long as they don't talk to the pitcher?

Wtf. An ump should not be allowed to tell a coach he’s screwing up.

At least they had enough common sense to get between the two teams after the walk off.

Very odd.
Ump was stuck on that kid and wouldn't stop until he was thrown out even though he had no way of knowing who actually threw the ball.

With the way he's been struggling at the plate, this is the worst thing Tennessee could do.
We'll take the free base.

I'm certain that it would end very poorly for said infielder and the rest of the Volunteer squad.

The term is “overhand”. It would have been a serious mistake for that pissant infielder to swing at Jones.

Since it was a 452’ walk off HR, there are no pitches left to throw.

You should remember Austin. They are worse
