No because Alabama thinks their greatest is in the water over there and their success is because they are Alabama that is how arrogant they are.

It is not arrogance when it is true

Perfect example right here. You think it is because you are Alabama. You have won the last 15 years because of Nick Saban deciding the NFL was a poor choice. If he never goes to the NFL you never get him. Bear was a different story. He is a former Bama player he will have ended up back there no matter what. You greatness is because of Saban and Bear. The best college coaches ever not because of Alabama. You were just a good program between Bear and Saban, some good years some down years. If Saban goes to any other major program or had not went to the NFL, LSU or another program would be what you have been the last 15 years. The point is while Saban will no doubt leave a lasting mark on Alabama football it will not be to the level that he left at LSU. LSU football has always been good but never reached the very top level except for a handful of years after the 1958 Natty. We were always the program that was a sleeping giant. Everyone nationally always asked why can't they reach the next level? They have everything going for them. The main thing being the only major program in one of the top two most talent rich states per population. Saban came and didn't let politics and people interfere. Which had been what had always held LSU back. People finally saw what could happen when everyone was pulling in the same direction. Until 2003 I am not sure anyone in Louisiana thought LSU could really be a consistent top 5 program. Alabama has never had that problem because Bear proved since the 60's what could be done there. Saban just added to your history and legacy. Saban built and created the legacy here. That is why I think the mark he left here is bigger.

True that the SEC was two top teams [in the 90s] like it is now, replacing UF with UGA

- I knew my answer would get under your skin.
Alabama football really started in the 1920's, under Coach Wallace Wade. During his time at Alabama, Bama won two Rose Bowls, tied another, and won 3 NC
The second great coach at Alabama was Coach Frank Thomas, who went to 3 Rose Bowls, winning two. Alabama also went to Cotton, Orange and Sugar Bowls winning all but the Sugar Bowl.
It is not by accident that Alabama is #1 in most college football categories.
On the field, Alabama is second in wins only to Michigan (who had over a decade head start)
first in winning % (even though Alabama was docked 28 on the field victories)
first in NC won by a Division 1 school
first in bowl appearances and bowl victories
has almost a third of its victories over the top 14 schools in all-time wins
Coach Saban helped keep it up, but Alabama has had a long history of success.
If the BOT and President Thomas had not been idiots, Alabama would also have Coach Bobby Bowden to add to its list of top head coaches.
So while it is not something in the water, there is something right in Tuscaloosa for college football.
