There was a time when you’d say “That’s our guy.”, and you (most of the time) saw his connection to the school.
Now? Just guns for hire. They have no bond with the school, so don’t expect me to have a bond with them (and, by extension, their team).
100% agree
Couple that with the fact that the Tigers put together the best season of all time right before the bottom fell out, and I have no real "hunger" I guess you would say, to get to the top. Of course I want to see them win every game they play, but it just doesnt mean as much anymore.

OH NO! Those recruits posting pics of their new cars the day after they signed. No proof there.
WHERE did these cars come from? "Unemployed" college students? Did Lil' Nicky only recruit rich kids? Did they win these cars on the Price is Right?

WHERE did these cars come from...getting their new wheels and tires?
Come on, you loud-mouthed, lying idiot. Let's have some answers.

No everyone is out of their minds..coaches lie to kids they should have freedom to transfer...NIL get your state legislators off their arse Missouri was all over it and since their not a blue blood we shouldn't be able to compete I smell BS...every athlete can't be paid 30k by the university...and this year had fewer blowouts and coaches don't like it boo hoo

NIL is not the problem. It’s the fact it’s pay for play and no contracts. We just need an NFL model and then everyone is protected.

Three things are correct.
1) Saban is right about NIL ruining college football because of entitled players.
2) Saban and many other coaches contributed to players feeling entitled to compensation after decades of under the table deals with select players and coaches salaries rising to absurd levels.
3) The NCAA never had any real power to enforce their player restrictions and the curtain is being pulled back on the wizard of oz.

Overall college athletics maybe, but CFB hasn't truly been an amateur sport for decades...we (and the NCAA) just continued pretending.
It won't be good for parity, thats for sure. Remember the days when tiny religious schools were able to compete with the big state schools in basketball? Those days are likely over. No idea how this will shake out for non-revenue Olympic sports...but some schools will fare better than others, some will have to cut down the number of sports they sponsor I'd imagine.

It just seems like it’s killed the emotional connection - especially by us old guys - to the game. The beauty of college athletics is that kids played it for the love of the game and their school, with the potential for riches in the NFL. That’s naive and Pollyannaish, but it’s how we always saw the game.
However, when coaches are making $10M a year and a bunch of others are getting rich off the labor and talent of these kids while all they get is an education, food, housing and a stipend (and yes I’m aware they’ve been getting paid more UTT for decades) it’s a problem. I can see why they’d want a bigger piece of the pie.
I’m not smart enough, but hopefully there’s a way we can conserve the spirit of playing for your school, being a student-athlete and give the kids what they’re worth too. Probably naive.

I don’t think we needed Nick to point this out to us.

Give me a couple million going into Auburn as a freshman, not much is getting done and a lot of strange is being had, if I'm being honest.

Yes.
Free room and board with an opportunity to get an education - all for playing a game. NIL has ruined it for sure.

Saban lost his advantage of being able to buy recruits and just out-talenting other teams.

This is a nice bedtime story for rantards but the reality is Kirby Smart recruiting the same body types at Georgia did more damage to Alabama's roster than NIL did...and Alabama continued to sign top classes from 2016 until he left.

Transfer portal is a bigger problem, as it is currently.

The reality is Bama wasn't signing top classes. It was media hype. Those two consecutive top WR classes Bama allegedly signed while Bryce was there is a prime example of this.
And, I think it was Sark and Kyle Flood leaving that did more damage to Bama than Kirby ever did.

Not necessarily, but that COMBINED with the ability to transfer pretty much whenever and for whatever reason have ruined things.
NIL was supposed to mean that you got a cut when they sold a jersey with your name on it, not that you get paid $3 million to drive a car around town.
