re: Is it a requirement to **Leave Your Family** to be a head coach at Texas A&M and Texas?

It's definitely hard on families where the dad is basically in a job where he never stops working. The mom pretty much raises all the kids and doesn't have a real partner. Her being a drinker wouldn't be surprising. Either of them cheating because he isn't around wouldn't be surprising.
Pistol Pete's mom fit that bill to a tee. Suicide/alcohol/something but it all basically added up to Pete and his dad had zero time for her and she couldn't deal anymore.
I'm not judging. Sure, they signed up for that life when marrying a coach but it still can't be easy. Sometimes I wonder why Skip hung it up early when he easily could have coached another decade but apparently he felt he owed it to his wife after all she sacrificed for him. I would hope that is now true for Saban as well.

I’d be more grateful if he wasn’t trying to gut the program and take all our players…
Edit: especially while he was employed

I doubt he's really proud of it however you think you heard it.
A failed marriage, for whatever reasons it failed, will eat at you every day.
Don't ask me how I know. Sure, you gotta move on and try to forgive and forget, but like a death in the family that grief never completely gets washed away no matter what shine people try to put on that turd.

Yeah, it sucks royally but that's just the way things are in the NIL/portal world. It's a cutthroat business now more than ever.

Anyone notice Texas only hires coaches from other smaller Texas schools because they can use the “we’re Texas” line, because coaches from outside the state of Texas don’t give a shite about Texas?

Agree to disagree.
He actually dug down and used that personal experience as a talking point in a press conference about baseball
ETA: that's narcissistic as hell and he's possibly worse than a narcissist

Am I the only guy who thinks that if I lived in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or Austin, my family might prefer to stay there than move to a smaller town?
For a myriad of reasons - wife just wants to say there, kids in school, etc. This is coach-speak. Who the frick puts stock in coach-speak.
Some of you SEC-types are gaping pussies.
I don't know if you're just scared of Texas or if the Dotard made you that way.

This doesn't apply here though. Kids were in college and he was already divorced. He didn't really leave his family, because he was empty nest and divorced, it was a weird line to throw out there. Dude was emotional and throwing out excuses because he knew what he did already and did not want to be truthful. So got butthurt and rambled crap to try and make the reporter feel bad for a question he didn't want to answer.

Herman was at Houston and we outbid everyone for him. Where's Sark from? Charlie Strong? Mack Brown? Mackovic? McWilliams came from Tech, sure.
Rodney Terry was an assistant coach who interim'ed his way into the job. Shaka, Barnes, Penders. None from Texas or coached in Texas.
Pierce came from Tulane but grew up in Houston. Garrido was at CS Fullerton. Gus was a high school coach in Texas, amazingly enough.
So... Herman, Pierce, McWilliams. Out of 13 of our last big 3 hires. Dumbass.

Well, since I don't have any knowledge of the matter, I'll accept that completely.

He did much worse than that. He name dropped one of his players as a shield.
Why do you think Braeden Montgomery's mother has gone nuclear over the last two days?

"What a selfish question. That's like asking Braeden Montgomery if he's going to the draft."
