This thread was started by a guy whose team is 3-21 against Mizzou and A&M since they joined the SEC.
I’d be dreaming the 2012 addition never happened as well if that was our record.

Instead of A&M and Missouri joining the conference, OU and Texas join
What if unc said yes to the 92 expansion, arky wouldn’t of been asked at all

Under your scenario, the West only has 3 teams capable of winning a championship, while the East has 5 teams (who have all won a nat'l champ in the last 30 years). Swap bama with Vandy.

Geographically, the divisions make sense.

quote:No. They are not the same.
Texas and Texas A&M are basically the same.
I don’t know about exact, but they have copied everything that they consider unique about themselves from Texas A&M

The University of Texas was created by the Texas Constitution in 1876.
quote:
The Texas Constitution, adopted after the Civil War in 1876, specifically stated that the legislature should establish, organize, and support a "university of the first class," which would be named "The University of Texas".
The constitution also provided for the location of the university to be determined by a vote of the people. (Austin)
The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, predecessor to Texas A&M, was established as a land-grant college by the Reconstruction-era Texas Legislature in 1871, as a "Branch of the University of Texas."
quote:
The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, established by an Act of the Texas Legislature passed April 17th, 1871, located in the county of Brazos, is hereby made, and constituted a Branch of the University of Texas, for instruction in Agriculture, the Mechanic Arts, and the Natural Sciences connected therewith. And the Legislature shall at its next session, make an appropriation, not to exceed forty thousand dollars, for the construction and completion of the buildings and improvements (land was donated by others), and for providing the furniture necessary to put said College in immediate and successful operation.

Weren't OU and Texas gonna join the Pac 10 (along with 4 other Big 12 schools)?

quote:In 2010, Larry Scott thought he had a deal for Texas, Oklahoma, A&M, OSU, Texas Tech and Colorado to go to the Pac and make it the Pac-16. He had talked to Bill Powers and Deloss Dodds, who assured him that everyone else would go along with whatever the Horns worked out.
Weren't OU and Texas gonna join the Pac 10 (along with 4 other Big 12 schools)?
A&M refused to commit, and started talking to the SEC.
Afraid of being left behind, Nebraska bolted for the Big 10.
Afraid of being muscled out by other Texas schools, Colorado jumped unilaterally to the Pac.
When A&M made it clear they would go to the SEC rather than the Pac, suddenly, Powers and Dodds insisted that if the Horns went to the Pac, they would have to be exempted from the new Pac network (the whole reason for the expansion). When told that was a no (from the existing Pac membership), Texas decided to stay and the deal was off. Some tinkering was done to the Big XII contract, and things appeared to be settling down until...
But, to bring this back to a what if discussion, my what if question is, what if Stanford hadn't blackballed Texas from joining the Pac in the '80s (Colorado would have come along as a partner)? A&M was ready to go to the SEC, presumably with Arkansas. There never would have been a Big XII. It would have been interesting to say the least.

You're as good at revisionist history as you are judging meat.
