Texas has the #3 total defense and Ant Hill has 90 tackles and more sacks than the Georgia LB and neither made All SEC first team for LBs.

Abosultely silly
Yes, he will win the Butkus next year, but being snubbed by the SEC means they are no better than the laughable Big 12 awards last year.

58 total tackles!???? That's it!?

Are you kidding me?

This is getting ridiculous

Popularity Trophies at this point and you can't even go off of his previous years stats either because he only had like 36 tackles in 2023!

This is shameful

Did Georgia pay for the Trophy or what?

He's a pass rushing OLB as opposed to an old school LB who hangs back and makes tackles.

He had 10.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks.

And he showed up in big games.

Clemson (1.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks)
Bama (1.0 TFL)
Texas #1 (3.0 TFL, 3.0 Sacks)
Ole Miss (1.0 TFL)
Tennessee (1.0 TFL, 1.0 Sacks)
Texas #2 (3.0 TFL, 1.0 Sack)

Literally, all of his TFL stats came in UGA's biggest games. He didn't no-show in any of them. He had 0 tackles against UMASS and 3 vs TTech... but so what? If he had 20 tackles in those 2 games and ended up with 75 total tackles would it have meant he was more deserving? Not really. He got rewarded for his play in the games that mattered, not stat padding against cupcakes.

Since Ant Hill was floated as being more deserving...

His biggest opponents.

8 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 Sack vs UGA (good game)
5 tackles, 0 TFL vs A&M
6 tackles, 1.0 TFL, 0 sack vs UGA #2.

Games where he racked up big stats:

Texas San Antonio - 11 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack
OU - 11 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2 sack
UK - 11 tackles, 4.0 TFL, 2 sack.

So what's more important... putting up great lines against poor opponents or showing up better in the most critical games a team has?

Y’all literally lost to the only team you needed to beat to say this. Twice.

Jalon Walker will be a really good NFL OLB as his game translates better against drop back passers - he honestly reminds me of lot of Micah Parsons.

I think its been established this year Georgia is a bad matchup and a better team when it matters. No one is denying Georgia has beaten Texas twice

(although the second time could have easily gone Texas way and Texas missed out on so many uncharacteristic drops, fg missed, penalties, Georgia fumbling 3-4 times and getting them all back, etc)

What is funny is team SEC ( assume given most hate Texas here) craps on our schedule given to us from the SEC offices, crowns teams who beat another SEC ranked team, yet has no issue with those same teams losing to the bottom half of the league, the same teams you people are saying makes Texas schedule trash. You can't have it both ways. Could Texas have gone 3-0 against Tenn, Ole Miss, SC? Sure, could they have gone 0-3? Maybe. More likely they are 2-1 which could have still landed them in the SEC champ and all this SEC schedule talk is nonsense.
