How the heck is Mizzou still ranked at 25 after being #21 and losing 34-0?

That is rather strange.

Cook makes Mizzou go. It’s like FSU losing Jordan Travis with him down. He’s probably back, so you have to rank them high.

Frankly we don’t know either. But neither do we care. We’ll likely drop out with a bye week unless a number of 18-24 teams lose horribly and no team among the “others receiving votes” does anything significant.

At the end of the day, AP is largely meaningless. CFP rankings come out soon and MU will not be anywhere in that consideration. What’s left? A “good bowl game”. No such thing exists any longer with the expanded CFP. You either in or you out!

Doesn’t mean I won’t watch or attend. I’m going to 3 of MUs final 4 games.

For those keeping a track record, Eli is following the same path he did with Connor Bazelak with Cook. Essentially running his qb out there injured until he can't walk. Oh yeah, while never developing his back-up.

The alternatives were worse. Simple as that.

Vandy was #26 with 41 votes. Mizzou had 44.

It's hard to rank Vandy ahead of Mizzou at the moment.

AP voters have a hard time looking past head-to-head.

FWIW, I'd put Vandy above them. Vandy beat Bama, Mizzou was slaughtered by them. Vandy's loss to Mizzou was by 3 points in 2OT.

I think Mizzou's record is the exact same with a healthy Cook. Maybe their losses are by fewer than 30 points though.

Their offense wasn't any good even with Cook.

It's a nod to the strength of the SEC, if anything. A similarly ranked ACC team would not even be in the top 25. Look at how low Pitt is in the rankings being undefeated.
