How critical is the Miami game for Napier?

A win over the Canes is what could really propel Florida into having a successful season. A double-digit loss where they don't even look competitive will not be a good look and will have fans wanting him fired immediately. Week 1 could already provide some answers for Florida

If UF would just let him hire all the staff he wants they could be successful.

It's meaningful for Cristobal. It's critical for Napier.

He will be on very thin ice if we lose to Miami. If we lose to Miami and let A&M beat us at home 2 weeks later he might as well pack his bags and pick up his 26 million dollar check.

I think the Gators will have their hands full in this game. Everyone is overlooking the fact that Cam Ward had over 3700 yds passing yards at Washington St before transferring to the Canes. Restrepo, their star WR had over 1000 yds catching. This is going to be a dangerous team, maybe ol Crystal-balls best yet. It'll be a big shot of momentum for the Gators if they can start the season off with a win.

I may regret this post, but I don't see the hype with this guy.

He put up a lot of dogshit #s vs mediocre PAC12 teams last year. Was that because of his team or him? I don't know. I didnt watch a single WSU game last year.

I know Miami is throwing around serious NIL $, but I'd think NFL backup QB $ is better.

Cristabol is on the hot seat as well. He can't go belly up again. Those boosters are paying through the nose for transfers and they want results this year. Huge year for Miami, they have to get in the playoffs.

Yep on paper this Miami team looks a lot better than last season with the real young players being older and those portal additions. There is an argument for Miami being in that #10 area for talent on their team now. I think Georgia and TX are the only 2 teams on our schedule that have more NFL talent than Miami.

doubt it

That’s what they said last year about Tennessee and we saw how that played out.

Difference between 4-8 season and a 3-9 season that’s it

Ward's issue was he didn't like throwing the ball away and took sacks by trying too long to find a receiver. He also scrambled to pass too much when he should have been taking the rushing yards that were there. Some think with Miami's O line protection being much better he will really be effective. He also had about the worst rushing attack in FBS except for Colorado which let teams come after him at Wash State.

Huge. Napier needs to make some noise this year. I’m not talking 7-5 noise either.

Whoever loses this game is getting fired before the end of the year.

I would fire him for anything less than 8-4 but if he goes 7-5 he isn't getting fired. I think there are even ways the season could play out where they retain him at 6-6 such as Lagway taking over later in the season and showing promise. I think a Miami loss makes it real hard for him to survive though as the noise will start immediately.

He loses and Florida starts the real coaching search. It would be like Sumlin against UCLA.
