Though the Longhorns lead the series overall (76–37–5), the series has been much closer since 1965 (when Texas A&M dropped compulsory participation in the Corps of Cadets). Since that time, the Aggies have accumulated 20 wins to 27 losses. During the last 40 meetings (from 1972—when the NCAA introduced scholarship limitations—to the present), the series is nearly even at 19–21. The Aggies' best years in recent times were from 1984 to 1994 when they won 10 out of 11 games, losing only in 1990 by one point.

Over the life of the series, the Aggies have shut out the Longhorns 13 times, and have been shut out 27 times (including scoreless ties in 1902, 1907, and 1921). However, since 1961, neither team has been shut out. The Aggies and Longhorns have never had a game decided in overtime. The Longhorns hold the largest margin of victory with a 48–0 win in Austin on October 22, 1898 (the second meeting in the series). The Longhorns also hold the series' longest winning streak of 10 games from 1957 to 1966. In addition, the Longhorns had an 11-game unbeaten streak from 1940 to 1950 that included a 14–14 tie in 1948.

Thought we could use some objective analysis.

Good to see you back. You nailed your prediction with Texas baseball’s coaching search!
quote:

There’s one more option. That option is that you are wrong and UT has been turned down by both and you’ll end up living with the crappy coach you have now.

You aren’t what you used to be. Athletic budgets can match almost any offer you can come up with.

You heard Schloss say last night he wants a new ballpark. All this will do is make teams give them more money and have them spend more money (which they have) on facilities.

So congratulations you’ve just made it harder for the crappy Pac12 coach you’ll actually have to hire and because of your actions you’ll pay that crappy coach what we had to match to pay ours.

Congrats on the win in College Station. We beat you in Austin one year prior. Try to stay objective.

Regardless of anything else...

As a college football fan... I'm glad to have that game back on line.

We have lost too many rivalry game through the last twenty or so years. Good to have one of them back. I'm also excited to be able to watch the the Hogs and the Horns play on the reg again.

Yep. I don’t think anyone saw that coming. Certainly a great option for the horns. How it compares to what A&M will do is yet to be seen. But it certainly was unprecedented and unexpected. No argument here.

A&M is going through the 5 stages of grief right now and this whole thread is an example of bargaining. You are trying to get others to see that you all aren't a tier 2/3 sports school.

Cherry picking favorable portions of your history isn't "objective analysis"

Grief? Over what?

Because Texas took our coach? Okay it was unexpected, but I am confident we will respond and be fine.

Because Texas is joining the SEC? Maybe some Ags are upset but I am glad we’re in the same conference again and recall the days we BEGGED Texas to go to the SEC instead of trying to build their own league any they wouldn’t. So no I am not experiencing grief over that.

So grief over what?

Not really cherry picking. That means picking favorable times independent of cause. You might want to seek Webster.

For example, saying A&M had an awesome team during COVID year isn’t cherry picking. It’s related to a real event. We discount this particular result as relevant because of cause.
COVID impacted the results.

The same here. It’s not hard for those of us that do this for a living.

No idea why you are pretending as if A&M isn't devastated over whats happened the last week. One has to take a momentary glance at TexAgs or this board to see the denial and anger parts. I suspect that depression will kick in if Jace/Gavin leave.

Sure. There was shock. It was shocking. But pretending like A&M somehow will just roll over is dumb. We hired a coach we believe in and have seen perform. We are going to build a huge ballpark and we will spend more money than ever on NIL.

We will be fine.
