Yeah. They copied their current design from us. The yellow and green colors are kinda gay, though.

I wonder why people think this is even amusing...
GB had a logo that looked more like a FB. We altered it to the power G while still confirming they were ok with the similar logo. Then they reached out to us to confirm that modifying their logo to look more like ours wasn't a problem...
Nothing was stolen. If anything it was a collaborative effort.

UGA should have to pay reparations to Grambling State for using their logo

We stole the Grambling uniform one time against florida. Played like Grambling too.

This is the logo we supposedly stole...

Grambling didn't have the logo until 65... A full year after we made the altered version of the GB logo that has become the basis for all the teams...

UGA has stolen NOTHING! From the University of Georgia athletics website, GEORGIADOGS.COM, I've copied/pasted the official story of the "Power G".
IT WAS NOT BORROWED FROM GREEN BAY. It wasn't even inspired by Green Bay. Today, Green Bay USES GEORGIA'S "POWER G" with UGA's consent.
GEORGIA OWNS THE TRADEMARK COPYRIGHT TO THE "POWER G" --- NOT GREEN BAY. ON ALL GREEN BAY PARAPHENALIA, THERE IS NO TRADEMARK ON THEIR "G". IT APPEARS ONLY ON GEORGIA MERCHANDISE AND SUCH.
The Georgia "G" Helmet
In 1963 after becoming the Bulldogs' Head Football Coach, Vince Dooley redesigned the football uniform choosing a red helmet with a black "G" on a white background as the dominant feature of the new uniform for the 1964 season.
He discussed with his staff that a forward-looking "G" would be an appropriate emblem for the helmet of the Georgia team. Dooley had just hired John Donaldson, former Georgia player from 1945 to 1948, as backfield coach. John was keen on the idea of a new image and volunteered his wife, Anne, who had a BFA in commercial art from UGA to design a logo for the new Georgia helmet with the general specifications Dooley had outlined. Dooley accepted Anne's original "G" which fit his vision for a forward look to Georgia's new emblem.
Since the Georgia "G"- though different in design and color- was similar to Green Bay's "G", Coach Dooley thought it best to clear the use of Georgia's new emblem with the NFL team. Athletic Director Joel Eaves called for permission which was granted. However, since its inception in 1961, the Green Bay "G" has been redesigned several times and now looks like Georgia's original 1964 "G." Georgia is proud that the Packers apparently liked the special nuances of the Bulldogs' forward-looking "G."
Georgia's oval "G", eventually replacing Georgia's old block "G" as the official UGA symbol, has stood the test of time. It made its first appearance in the opening game in 1964 and was an immediate hit with the Georgia fans, especially after Dooley's first three teams were so successful--highlighted by the 1966 SEC Championship.
Also from the UGAA website about the licensing/trademarks...
What are the University of Georgia's trademarks?
The University's trademark registrations include "Georgia ", "University of Georgia", "Georgia Bulldogs", "Bulldogs", "Dawgs", "UGA", "University of Georgia Athletic Association", "Between The Hedges", "How Bout Them Dogs", "Go You Silver Britches", "Hairy Dawg", the oval "G" mark , the "Bulldog Head" mark , the "Standing Bulldog" mark, the "Football Helmet" mark , "Commit to the G" mark, The University's Seal , and The University's "Arch" mark . These marks are used for sale, promotional, and advertising purposes and are well known and recognized by the general public and associated with the University in the public mind.
Hey, Auburn: how about traditions AU has stolen from UGA? Such as playing, "Glory, glory"! It's been our spirit song and played since 1915. AU began to play it in the 1950's!!
UGA has had English privet hedges surrounding our football field ever since the Sanford Stadium was built in 1929. AU put in their hedges in the 1980's!
The only thing AU can't steal from UGA is our...best-in-class colors, red & black, and our....class par excellence!

Hey, AU...did you know that YOUR emblem, the "AU" interlocking emblem on your helmet, came into being in 1966, TWO YEARS after UGA had designed theirs.
I'm sure our "Power G" was an inspiration to all you uncreative souls on the plains, so you probably stole that, too!
By the way, UGA IS TAILBACK U! Don't you forget it! Oh, that's something ELSE AU's trying to steal from us!

Oh look, Auburn fans are feeling neglected.

Packers developed it in '61. The son of a Georgia coach had a stint with the Packers and had the "Oval G" sticker in the window of his car when he returned home. When Dooley was tinkering with uni/helmet combos, the Oval G made it's way to the top choice & UGA reached out to GB & cleared it. Grambling soon followed suit.

That story is more urban legend... One guy claims that is how it happened.
See above... the logo that the packers were using was the sketched image above prior to UGA coming up with the true Oval G, or "Power G" as we refer to it. Due to the similarity, UGA did reach out to clear it, but the dimensions/style of the logo was clearly different still.
Later, the Packers modified their logo to more closely resemble the UGA Power G, and we obviously cleared it.
Grambling saw our logo in 64 and made the same request, and there were several HS programs (one up in the north east "Rye" and another in South Carolina) that just started using them without requesting, since no one cares what logo a HS uses...
It's an interesting story, but hardly any reason to try and claim that anyone stole anything...
Here is that same sketched 1961-64 logo on their helmets (believe this pic is from the 1962 NFL Championship game against the Giants):
On a round helmet, it's less obvious, but you can see the ends are still angular/pointed like a football. Georgia's logo has always been the rounded "true oval"... Clearly they liked the change.
Green Bay site confirming

Not true. Not true at all! Also, Grambling's use of the Oval G is BY PERMISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA. You may call Grambling State @318-247-3811 or UGA @706-542-3000, ask for the Sports Information at either school, and they will verify it for you.
