This includes all sports, both major and minor. Anybody know?
As for the 20th Century, it's a no-brainer. But, I'm curious as to who's in the lead so far for the 21st Century.
The USC Trojans dominated the 20th Century. To date, USC has won 135 national team championships, third behind only UCLA and Stanford.
USC has long dominated the world of intercollegiate athletics. It was once named the "Collegiate Athletic Program of the 20th Century." USC men and women have combined for 135 national team titles.
Trojan men’s teams top the nation in NCAA championships with 85 — more than any university. Overall, USC's men have won 98 national titles. USC’s women also are a force, with 37 national team titles, all since 1976.
From 1959-60 to 1984-85, at least one USC team won a national championship (including five crowns in both 1962-63 and 1976-77) in each of those 26 years.
USC won the 2015-16 Women's Capital One Cup as the nation's top women's athletic program, based on its finishes in NCAA Championships.
The Trojan men won USA Today’s National College All-Sports Championship six times from 1971 to 1984 (1971-72-74-75-77-80).
The Trojan Empire isn't what it once was, therefore...........who's winning the 21st Century so far?

You should have Southern Cal logo beside your name, RatRodDawg.

Mich, South Dakota St, Clemson, Notre Dame, Cal and Stanford are always ranked high in the Capital one rankings. I think Nebraska is usually in the mix too.

They participate in like 36 sports or something ridiculous.. Texas has hung with them for the last 5 years, but going back to 2000, they are the easy choice.
Since 1993

Definitely not USC. Football/Basketball should be weighted double
Correct answer is probably Ohio State or Oklahoma

My guess is Stanford, too. I haven't done the complete research, but I think you're correct on this.
My guess is that Texas and Florida would definitely be up there, too.

Honestly, in the time that they have been doing the directors cup thing...
OU has had like two top ten finishes. I think eighth is the best we have ever done. Lot's of 15-20th place finishes.
OU gets a lot of mileage out of softball and men's and women's gym...
And obviously football has been good all things considered...
but every other sport is pretty spotty. A few elite teams here and there.
And we have a few sports that are never any good. For example... Cross country, women's soccer. And after having one of the best wrestling programs in the country for decades... they are in the dumpster.

I looked at the last 12 or 15 years of the Directors cup rankings and my guess at the top 5 would be:
Stanford
Florida
Texas
UCLA
OhioState/Michigan
Learfield Directors Cup past standings

Don't forget to subtract 1 football natty for 2004 when they had it vacated

Florida has been a top ten for the all sports trophy something like 30 times, but Texas is making a push as the top overall program. What's amazing is how many times Stanford has won it despite its academic requirements. You need more than a pulse to play for Stanford.
