If the coach received money in his account around the same time Clinton-Dix withdrew money from his account, I think it's pretty safe to assume the coach was paid back by the player.

The story will be "I used it as petty cash instead of depositing it".

I'm pretty sure you could just compare his bank records with the coach's bank records. If the coach received money in his account around the same time Clinton-Dix withdrew money from his account, I think it's pretty safe to assume the coach was paid back by the player.

You would be a terrible auditor.

I'm going to "loan" a few recruits a couple thousand dollars and as long as they pay me back before the season starts then it's OK, right?

The NCAA doesn't use the forfeiting of games anymore. They vacate them. Regardless, you should read the article before jumping to conclusions.

They have not forfeited games from previous seasons because of the lawsuit ramifications. A game that is forfeited in the current season protects the NCAA, because it would reverse the detrimental effect of a loss (ie A&M).

What if he did?

It makes no mention of the coach's bank records.

True enough.

But I'm not worried.

That's the key. If Bama didn't know until this week and they acted immediately, then they are probably fine unless the NCAA can prove otherwise.

Bama knew. They fricking knew.

When it happened and when he paid the money back matters not to the question of eligibility.

The question is what did Bama know and when did they know it.

So long as they just found out this week and quickly acted on the information, then they are probably okay.

When he paid the money back matters not at all.

I think this is more accurate. Although the timing is peculiar at best given our next 4 games.

This is so karma for 2010.

A long way to go to make up for that. I could barely enjoy the god-damned national title with the constant fricking witch hunt and internet/news barrage.

I wonder how different your reaction might be if this were Trooper Taylor loaning money to Cam Newton and getting repaid based on Cam's word that that is what he did with his cash withdrawal.

Since it was paid back there can't be a quid pro quo , sorry.

Auburn paid SCAM 200k , TAMU covered up a 5 figure John Hancock orgy , but HAHA borrowed and paid back 500 bucks OOOOooooooooooo

Wow. Coaches paying players used to be pretty serious. The new NCAA will likely not do much about it though. Repay money, fire coach, sit 2-4 games, move on.

Most Alabama fans would be having a field day with this if it was Auburn or Tennessee.

I wouldn't give a shite. A player can get 100k from the coaching staff for making a big hit for all I care.

They won't forfeit our games. There's too much money at stake. Alabama is the SEC's only (legitimate) undefeated team at the moment.

Is this not the sad coach that got in trouble while with the Miami hurricanes?
