Gus Malzhan Had The Highest Winning Percentage Against Nick Saban

Gus Malzhan went 3-5 against Nick Saban. Auburn fired him for it. That was the highest winning percentage of any SEC coach who coached more than 6 games against Saban. Again, Auburn fired him for it. And here they are.
They will lose their fifth game in a row against Alabama this year.
Most Auburn fans here were excited when Malzhan got fired. Most were excited when Harsin was hired. Most were excited when he was fired. Most were excited when Freeze was hired. You can fill in the next.

Who cares. Gus is gone, Saban retired and the world keeps spinning. Tuberville had a great record against Shula, can you bring his dumbass back?

According to the rant we did. His name is Kalen Deboer.
Maybe you guys will do good against him.

50/50 at best. I know plenty of Auburn fans that were disgusted with the hire.

My hunch is Auburn's problems right now is they've spent over half a decade recruiting very poorly between the tail end of Malzahn and the short tenure of Harsin. One recruiting class wasn't changing things without signing a hired gun quarterback. My guess is their money knows that they need a quarterback and they'll find that rental this offseason.Year 3 with no improvement from Freeze is when hard decisions may need to be made.
You only get rid of coaches before year 3 when it is a lost cause like Harsin. I don't think Freeze is a lost cause yet because he continues to sign good players.

captdalton has really plummeted as a poster

I agree with all of that.
BUT, there is certainly enough talent on that team where we should be at least 4-1 right now and I really don’t know who is to blame.
I don’t think we have any choice than to ride it out at least another year with Freeze.
It’s not the wins/losses that bother me now, but rather his demeanor and attitude on the sidelines and after the games

Many, many Auburn fans here thought that Brian Harsin would win at Auburn. Most that post here thought he was an upgrade over Malzhan.

That’s an exaggeration

On paper he was.
I don’t think anyone thought he would completely neglect recruiting and run so many coaches and players off after one season.

Allen Greene got fired for hiring Harsin.
What will happen to John Cohen if Freeze flames out?

He can only beat lowly teams like Cal. Very alarming.

Gus Malzahn was 0-14 outside of Jordan Hare Stadium against alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Clemson. His biggest bowl wins were the Birmingham Bowl and the Music City Bowl.
That’s why he got fired. He couldn’t win on the road.

I will do that sometime and Missouri will have nothing to do with it.

Nothing. He didn’t hire Freeze, the boosters did.

Well we’ve won at least one of those road games. Thanks for asking

The malzahn that got fired was different from the earlier malzahn. Somehow got away from the dual threat qb and the potent offenses he put together with less than 5 star talent. I guess was burned out and lost the team and fanbase.
