This isn't about my Tide. Alabama blew that game so early I didn't even bother watching the second half. That nonsense was over before halftime. I read about the blown call in that game this morning, and frankly, it’s infuriating—but not surprising.
I’ve watched plenty of games this week and this season, and the officiating? It’s a joke. It’s not just bad—it’s offensively incompetent with zero accountability. I caught parts of the Auburn game, and even though I despise Auburn with every fiber of my being, I couldn’t ignore the blatant incompetence. The officials screwed them repeatedly. Yes, I loathe Auburn, but fair is fair—and the officiating in that game was an embarrassment.
The number of botched, game-changing (or potentially game-changing) calls this season is staggering. It’s unacceptable. These referees need to be publicly reviewed, graded, and held accountable. Mistakes above a certain threshold? Fine them. Fire them. Period.
With the absurd amount of money flooding into college football, there’s absolutely no excuse for this level of ineptitude. Here’s an idea: hire retired military personnel who are disciplined, train them properly, and let them officiate full-time. Or, nationalize officiating—bring in neutral refs from outside the conferences. Something has to change, because what we have now is an absolute disgrace.

The Matt Loeffler and Jason Autrey officiating crews should never be allowed to referee another football game at any level.

The should be brought out to the middle of the stadium after the game and people vote on their performance. If it’s below a certain threshold, they are flogged.

Eh who really gaf about that? The players make 100x more than the refs.

Texas has had so many defensive pass interferences against their WR’s and they won’t call it with these SEC refs. Wtf.

If only there were a way for a referee to make an extra $100,000 a year. Hmm, I wonder how they could do that?

A Bammer complaining about officiating. That's rich.
Bama got all the calls for a decade.

Doesn't that amplify the point I just made? What a asinine retort.

So now we're advocating civil unrest and potential violence.
Jesus Christ. Never change Rant Bama fans, never change. Bunch of mouth-breathing Cro-Manguns.
ETA: The officiating was bad but that doesn't mean you condone throwing shite on the field.

Freeze was apoplectic and he should have been. Officiating in that game was so bad that that entire crew needs to be demoted to high school.

Bama has one bad call go against them and they want to start genociding referees

The broadcast crew really called the officials out, but some things that aren’t reviewable need to be reviewable.

Crazy thought, maybe referees should be a full time job that aren't lawyers doing this as a side gig.

That is Jason Autrey officiating. Same crew that worked the LSU/South Carolina game. Same crew that worked the Alabama/Tennessee game last year. Same crew that worked the infamous Auburn/Arkansas blown fumble game. Three things that are certain in life are death, taxes, and the Jason Autrey crew completely butchering a couple of SEC games per season.
The crew in the Alabama/OU game was the Loeffler crew. The same crew that worked the Texas game where they reversed a call because of the fans throwing stuff on the field.
At times it looks so egregious that it is hard to believe it is solely incompetence.

I agree. Give each coach 1 challenge per quarter on a penalty. Make them go to the monitor while the crowd watches replays of their incompetence.

There is a reason why the NFL got a deal done so quick when their refs went on strike and they had to use college zebras

Just mad that other teams have the refs in their pocket now since Saban is gone

I've posted before officials at the P4 or P5, whatever it is, should be full time officials. Officiating football games should be their one and only job and not something they do 13 weekends out of the year. They should be required to attend clinics, review game film and work in some capacity to improve themselves just like any 40 hour per week employee. And pay them accordingly with incentives thrown in. If you have to pay them $200k per year, so what? College football generates more revenue than the GDP of some countries.
Grade them after each game and if they fail, no incentive, or better yet, dock
their pay and sideline them until they prove to be competent. Have standby officials ready to step in.
