Don't understand all the hype for Manning when he's been nothing but a backup for 2 years

I guess it's true that the most popular player on the football team is always the backup QB, especially when your last name is Manning. If Manning was as great as some are saying, how is he still riding the bench two years into his UT career?

Manning has had two full seasons, and Ewers has also missed several games in those two years, and he still finds himself riding the bench. I realize his uncles Eli and Peyton were great QBs, but that doesn't mean Arch is a sure bet to also be a star.

I'm not saying he won't become a great QB in time, but let's see him prove it on the field before we start throwing all these accolades his way. As of now, he's been nothing more than the highest paid backup QB in college football history, which is not a bad position to be in!

Number 1 recruit in his class and his performance this year in the games he played in backed it up.

Watch what happens when Arch throws a few interceptions in a home game loss. Oh my! I hope he is successful but its like LSU asking Jaden to declare so Nuss can start...Hope it works out for them unless they are playing my Tigers.

He’s going to end up one of the most overhyped players in cfb history.

The fan base is bound to turn on him just like they did Quinn, no doubt. His expectations are through the roof, and if he falls short there will be those who talk out of their arse. That being said, he doesn’t have a “Manning” coming in behind him like Quinn did but Lacey and Bell are exceptional qb prospects.

I don’t see a home loss on our schedule next year though. I see 3 games that I view as potential losses and their all on the road (tOSU, Florida and Georgia).

Quinn was going to the draft either way this year. It was unlikely, but there were talks of him going pro last year. He wanted to get more starts (I think it’s like 25-27), because that has shown correlation with NFL success.
Manning has sat for 2 years and basically started 3 games this year, he’s ready.

The Good
a 184.0 Quarterback Rating in the games he played significant minutes when Ewers was hurt.. plus he can run.. plus he throws a better deep ball than Ewers.. plus he can scramble in the pocket and keep his head downfield..

The Unknown
He has struggled a little bit with the short to intermediate routes and he has only limited reps vs a good defense..

Manning's family wanted him to come along slowly.
This is what they wanted when he was coming out of high school.
Not hard.

Where was Joe Burrow at before LSU got him as a transfer quarterback? Didn't he had similar results to Manning as an OSU backup?

I haven’t watched much of Texas but when he came in and got rocked against Ohio State he looked like he wanted to be anywhere else on the planet other than that football field

Dude looks like he can play. Guess we will see. I gave Milroe the benefit of the doubt until he proved he had not grown as much as some of us thought he would.
