It’s Ole Miss historically and Bama practically in the last two decades . Since both have bigger rivals on paper that share the same state, maybe we have no blood rivalry. .

I agree with just about all you said. However if you are referring to Archie with this comment.

quote:

particularly when a Louisiana native whose last name begins with the letter "M" chose to attend Ole Miss over LSU and quarterback their team

He is not a LA native. He is from Drew, MS.

I stand corrected. Post amended and corrected.
Thanks for noting this.

Just play who's on the schedule they give. That's all that matters.

It’s ever-changing honestly

Ole Miss 40’s & 50’s
AU in 80’s and early 90’s
Bama since 2005

No. Especially not A&M.

If it comes down to 1 "rival" to be played every year for each SEC team (which some rumors suggest it will be), the matchups would likely be

Bama/AU
UGA/UF
TN/Vandy (seriously)
MSU/OM
Texas/OU
Arky/Mizzou
SC/UK
A&M/LSU

OU is the odd man out bc they don’t have much history with anyone , but someone has to play them on thanksgiving.

OU v. Texas should be the rivalry week game.

Yes, and we all know it’s Ole Miss. it’s just silly to say otherwise.

My generation (Boomers) would agree with this.

But we really have no rivals. We pretty much hate everyone we are playing against.

And the refs.

“The deal with Bama is that Bama, in typical arrogant redneck manner, acts like they’re too good to call it that, yet how many years do they face each other, both undefeated or close, and it’s the #1 game to watch or close to it? “

That doesn’t make it a rivalry. It makes it a big game. CBS has spent 15 years trying to make this a rivalry. It’s only a rivalry on one side. Auburn then UT is our games you have to win. Losing those games can get you fired. LSU fans like to say Bama is because it makes their program look better than saying ole miss is the rival but nobody in Alabama gives two shites about the LSU game until like Thursday of game week. CBS and LSU fans care way more about than Bama fans. Hopefully ABC will rightfully build up the auburn and UT games and stop “manufacturing” a rivalry that doesn’t exist.
To answer the OP, no LSU doesn’t have a rival. It’s similar to Arkansas in that they only deemed one team as major in the state.

Do Ole Miss fans consider LSU to be a bigger rival than State? If not then you can't be our biggest rival. It has to run both ways. That's why we don't have a true rival.

I’ve been rooting for LSU for 40 years and from my point of view over that time it is Ole Miss.
