What if an actual homosexual observes an obvious bad call in a game?

Do he have fagometric analosis?

So you don't think refs can influence a game? Or that injuries can cost you?

Because they both can.

I remember we were playing Florida back when Spurrier was coaching and it was when Weurffel was playing for the Gators and Eric Zeier was UGA's QB. It was POURING down rain. Zeier was doing well and Weurffel was struggling and he came to the sidelines after an interception and Spurrier ripped him a new one. Weurffel started yelling that it was raining and the ball was wet. Spurrier said, "It isn't hurting THAT guy!" pointing over at Zeier. My point; Both teams are suject to the same stuff, whether it be weather, injuries, stupid/blind refs, etc. Its part of the game. You factor that in and in reality, both are playing on a level playing field. If there is a bad call at the beginning of the game it isn't fussed about like it would be at the end, but the chances of it happening in either place are the same...its just noticed more at the end. Its part of the game. It can happen to both teams. I think its something teams have to factor into the equation. Again, when it comes to injuries; Championship teams have championship depth. They are gonna happen, but can your team adapt and overcome?

Well, duh, weather affects both teams the same. Refs and injuries do not always.

Yes, but only after I've downed 2 fifths of Woodford Reserve while I'm doing the polka on Sunset Boulevard.

Refs don’t screw Texas. You guys persuade them with trash on your own turf. Shameful.

Reasons vs. Excuses.

It's just a matter of perspective.

At the end of the day only the scoreboard matters. I reserve the right to make excuses and/or give reasons for my favorite team's failures.

It's my right as a fan.

A starting qb getting hurt ? Doubtful.

There are many examples of the refs costing teams. Nfl refs cost the Saints a trip to the super bowl.

The refs job is to make sure the game is played FAIRLY and to help prevent injuries through rules, penalties.

It is not to blow calls.

When you have 2 teams fairly equal the refs and injuries play parts in a team's ability to win/lose. Just because 2 teams are playing the same game doesn't mean you'll have the same injuries to key positions.

We have had games in the past where the refs totally changed the course of the game, and I'm talking about a series of wrong/questionable calls that either took points off the ball, killed a great drive or gave the opponent new life after they were stopped.

That said, none of that applies to our two losses this season. Georgia just straight up beat us the first matchup and then dug deep and found a way to win the second.

So to sum up, officiating can actually decide a W/L, but only if it's not a single bad call. Everything else (wind, rain, snow, injuries, extra rubber pellets etc) is just bullshite whining.

Its seems like most of our losses are too far out of hand to take solace in lame excuses.

Usually, but Not in regards to the often disparate impact of injuries and refs.

I kind of lean toward this.

I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing up a bad call or a fluke play. That's just talking about the game.

But I try really hard to avoid saying things like "They only won because...." or "we would have won if..." when talking about those.

For example, when UGA lost to Bama in the SECCG last year, I did post about how we didn't play well and that we came close despite missing FG's and losing the turnover battle. But I tried to make sure it was clear that I was saying "Man, I wished my team hadn't had turnovers and our kicker had made his FG's" rather than being "we only lost because of turnovers and missed FG's"... because the latter would be impossible to prove. Bama still could have won had we made the FG's and avoided the turnovers.

I just wished my team played better in that game.

Similarly, if UGA loses with Stockton playing horribly against ND, I'll probably say something along the lines of "I wish UGA had better QB play. Sucks to end the season like that." But I won't say "We only lost because Beck was hurt."

Beck's had some absolute bombs this year. No way I could claim that he'd do better than Stockton even if Stockton sucks.
