I sense fear. You are wondering why we are so confident. We have very good reason to be confident this year. College football is weak right now and this Vols team is CRIMINALLY underrated.

Every off season they will regale you with stories about Nico, Joe Milton, Rick Clausen or whichever QB is on the roster. They might even throw in a position player or two. What they always fail to acknowledge is that the SEC is a line of scrimmage league, and they haven't been dominant there on either side of the ball since the Clinton administration. Then the season will unfold, they'll lose 3-4 games, sign another middling recruiting class, and the process repeats itself.

They tend to melt away after their losses begin to mount up, but after a win, they come back in full force until another loss hits. In short...pretty much like a lot of the fan bases. They are just a little more vocal so when they melt away it is more noticeable.
Also, keep in mind that 3-4 of the more vocal ones are probably alters with a couple of loud ones younger, less experienced kids. The more mature fans are pretty good, actually. Still rabid fans, but more reasonable.
