Do SEC teams still give HS coaches free tickets to games?

Just thought about this and wondered if it still happens. My Dad was a high school coach, and I can remember in the 80s and 90s just walking up to the gate at Alabama and Auburn football or basketball games, Dad showing his AHSAA badge and the will call attendant just sliding over tickets for me, my brother, Dad and whatever friend tagged along.

Dad never made it seem like a big deal and the seats weren't the best, but it seemed that it was the team's policy to hold a couple of dozen tickets in reserve for local HS coaches. I doubt that happens anymore given how much money those tickets are worth, but I'm curious if anyone that currently a coach knows anything about it.

My fondest memories of attending LSU football games in the late 50ies and into the 60ies was this perk for Louisiana coaches. Train ride from Shreveport to Baton Rouge, stay with my uncle that taught at LSU. That was special.

Yes. Don’t think you can just walk up now. Must let them know in advance

Good to hear. Things like that shouldn't die. Local teams should stay local as much as they can -- not be NFL LIGHT.

Just an FYI. At least at Bama and AU, they honor any HS coach credential. Have a buddy who went to a couple of low tier football games with his golf coach’s card. As I recall, for the biggest games you had to request by Monday before the game, but for the WKU level ones it was day before.
