Miami from 2000-2002 had star power yes, but it's not like they annihilated every team they played. You see all of that talent those teams put into the NFL and one assumes automatically they dominated in every game they played. 2000 Miami was defeated by Washington and had a very close win against Florida State. 2001 Miami nearly lost to Boston College and Virginia Tech. 2002 Miami nearly lost to Florida State, struggled against Pittsburgh, and lost to Ohio State in the title game.

I guess it just depends on your definition of "dominant". 2009, 2011, and 2012 Alabama were all dominant teams that struggled from time to time.

Apparently there is this standard of football that Alabama just doesn't have....except the standard of winning National Championships instead of losing them....

Agree it's not the best comparison, but LSU won back-to-back titles in 96-97, and came within a game of playing for the three-peat in 98. Also won 5 titles in 10 years.

OP, thanks for giving bama fans more fap material. You'd fit right in as a bama homer so why don't you go to their board & play with your new friends?

I do. So many games I sat through praying we would just have a lil luck. And to be devastated. Those years made me appreciate a good quarterback. Lol

This. Thankfully, I was stationed in Korea for his first year.

I am guessing you meant to say 3 of 4, cause we won 2 of 3 in 91 and 93, and back to back in 96 and 97

I go to 7-8 games a year, and have attended all 3 BCSNCG. I'd rank them like this:

1a) 2011
1b) 2009
2) 2012

I think 2011 was just more intense, because Bama lost to LSU 2 moths earlier, and I had 3 days to soak up the atmosphere in N.O. and jaw back and forth with LSU fans.

2009 was kinda surreal, going to California and beating Texas.

2012 was nowhere near the other two (IMO) because I knew what was gonna happen before I even went.

So, I definitely appreciate the run Bama is on, but I would be lying if I said I didn't take it for granted sometimes.

Heck, the 2008 season may have been my favorite one in the last decade, just because I wasn't expecting it.

I know the Dubose years were tough, but I go back to the "Ears Whitworth" years just before Coach Bryant. Three wins in two years will make you appreciate winning and never take it for granted. Those were painful. "Ears" was bad news. His three-year record was 4-24-2. Part of that was with Bart Starr at QB.

My first games to listen to were the Harry Gilmer years, and especially remember the Sugar Bowl after the '44 season and the Rose after the '45 one. (Against Duke and So. Cal)

But there is one thing I've always wanted - three in a row. Nobody has ever done it, even though we've come the closest if you count the 1966 robbery after we won it in 64 and 65. To win three in a row in the BCS era would be beyond words.

AS much as i would hate to see it happen. My money is on you guys next season. it sets up pretty well for you and even if you drop one game ( hopefully to LSU ), i still believe ya'll can get in to the BCSNCG

Grew up in the 60's 70's and suffered thru the 80's 90's and first part of this century. I told my son about the 70's but right now blows that away and Bama set an NCAA record with the number of wins in the 70's.

Of course we do. What a silly question. My only regret if you can call it that, is the low level of competition the last three titles.

I feel Bama is having a great run without any competition. I really am tired of these blowouts.

I expect us to repeat this year again. Arrogant? You bet.
