I use Direct TV at the tailgates to watch other games and for those that stay at the tailgate to watch Alabama. I know some use DISH but is there any other option? Would streaming games be virtually impossible and there is such a delay of what is going on in stadium? Any help would be appreciated.

I just set up Hulu this morning. It’s going to take some getting used to, but I think once you get the navigation figured out it’ll be fine. I will miss the easy grid and jumping around the channels, but it’s half the price as DIRECTV.

With the SEC on espn, short of the ABC game being over the air, streaming is it.

That said direct TV is several seconds behind live action. I lived near Sanford and if I left my door open I could hear the cheers and 5-7 seconds layer I would see what happened.

I don’t know what Alabama does but anywhere you have that many people ,streaming over a cell connection will be rough.

I dropped Dish and went to You-tube. I can watch it in my car in downtown Tuscaloosa with no problem. That may be an option for you.

yeah, I set up Hulu and home because they dropped it right before the Braves Phillies Sunday night game. But at the tailgate, is streaming possible? I was wondering what some might have done last weekend. Yes, the regular ABC channel is still on my Direct TV so for the Bama/Georgia game that is no problem but this week the S. Florida game is.

Until you have 100K people trying to used up all the bandwidth around the stadium on their phones...

Here is a cheat sheet

Cheapest option: Sling (Quality is decent - not as many features as YouTubeTV)
Highest quality option: Fubo (Most expensive option of the 3)
Most versatile option: YoutubeTV (Good quality - more features than Sling. Cost is more than Sling and less than Fubo)

I think the interface on YouTube TV is way better than Hulu and it seems to buffer way less, but that could be my personal Internet stuff. On YouTube TV you can filter out other sports also I guess you can do that with Hulu but I never figured out how.

The old days you’d sign contracts for cable and directv. So the nice part is I can jump around until I find one that I like best. Hulu seems ok and it comes with ESPN+. I ordered an old fashioned chunky remote bc if I have to use that little fricking Apple remote I’ll lose my mind.

YouTube TV is king. I’ve had it almost since the beginning and even though the price increases suck, it’s far and away the best option in my opinion. My in laws and i have one account we share and split the cost.

The guy's question is not about which streaming service to try, it's about tailgating.

My two cents — we've tried streaming (at the tent) in the past, but the experience was inconsistent.

I've had YouTube TV at home for years and it still buffers occasionally on live games, even with fiber. There is a setting now to reduce the broadcast delay, but you risk making buffering worse, especially in a high-bandwidth area.

Personally I think the only way for this actually work on gamedays is for the University to replace those DISH modules with hotspots, providing a backbone to connect to for centralized streaming.

In other words, I have no answers either. Streaming may work at your tent this weekend, but it also may be frustrating at the worst possible moments,

I can barely get a text message out sometimes on gameday, idk if streaming live HDTV is going to work. Maybe the university has wifi you can connect to?

We almost had to this past Saturday.

Deluge of rain about four hours before kickoff caused them to cut power to the entire area (their main generators feeding each area sub-panel sit in an open area that was taking on water).

Only got restored right before the evening slate, so we missed seeing most of the 2:30pm TV games.
