The offensive line had their left and right tackles injured. Tennessee was playing a third strain tackle. Defense was holding Oklahoma offense. There was no use of having Nico to stand back there and throw he might’ve got hurt. So they ran the ball and ran the clock out.

Something not being discussed is that Tennessee's defense dominated Oklahoma and made them one dimensional. They had 36 yards rushing on 34 attempts for 1.1 ypc. They weren't going to beat us through the air.

We outplayed them on both sides of the ball and turtled up the 2nd half with the 16 point lead.

After Georgia's poor performance against a bad Kentucky team - Whatever point you're trying to make just comes off as sour grapes.

It looked like Tenner grabbed a lead and then folded their tents on offense.

Looked that way. But all that chatter about OU's defense comes from watching them in the first half, before any potential tent folding began. They were stout.

They were run heavy for most of the game.

Yeah, and running over and over into the meat of the OU defensive line all through the second half.

It was infuriating!

3down10 is big mad at the Vols win. Why is a Bama fan posting in multiple threads about how TN couldn’t move the ball last night. I was at the game. The OU defense was stout but their offense was terrible. Why would a coach not use the best strategy to win which was to lean on the defense and just try to eat clock (with a 2 score lead). Not only did we not pass in the second half, we also didn’t use tempo. On another note, the OU fans were classy and great to chat with and I hope they have a great season going forward.

He only threw it two times?

Dang, Heupel WAS playing it conservative last night.

He's trying to convince himself. He's terrified. So are the dawgs.

It's funny.

They did but it was mostly because their tackles got hurt and couldn’t pass protect so they went run heavy

OU fans seem like good people. I've read that Tennessee fans were treated well in Norman. We invited a few fans we met on the Strip to our tailgate in Knoxville back when Baker was still there and they were great guests.

OUs qbs made them one dimensional if you are being honest.

I picked Tennessee to win, and the only other prediction I made was that neither team would score over 30 points, which held true.

I'm just giving my honest opinion about what I saw.

You didn't have a ton of success passing in the first half outside a couple of big plays.

On 1 drive you had a 30 something yard pass that setup a FG.

On another drive you had the explosive 66 yard TD pass.

Otherwise you punted 4 times, one time even after being given the ball back directly after your QB was strip sacked. It would have been 4th down if not for the strip sack fumble anyway, and a 5th punt. Instead, your offense was gifted a new set of downs....oh wait, and you still punted.

That leaves the 2nd and final TD Tennessee was able to score, where over 3 downs Tennessee managed -2 yards, and it would have been 4th down and a punt even if the strip sack hadn't have happened.

And then Oklahoma gives the ball back with a new set of downs on the very next play - in addition to 21 yards of field position. Tennessee is able to run it 8 times for a TD.

So yeah, I saw those 2 big plays that were pretty nice. Outside that, I saw a team who was fortunate to not be punished for their 2 turnovers hang on to a win only managing 6 points in the 2nd half.

Why wouldn’t he? OU offense couldn’t score against air

Hence why the play calling went vanilla in the second half. Thin on the O-Line, defense was playing lights out and the field condition didn’t look great. Any coach in their right mind would have done the same thing. OU was never going to be able to keep up offensively in this game.

Wasn’t any need pushing it and allowing OU defensive to strip the ball away again it looked like the pocket collapsing to fast so it was better to play safe
Especially with our defense doing well
That’s what I take from it.
Plus our guys were slipping and sliding all over the field.
We got W that’s all that matters.

Yes! The field conditions and lack of availability of a Left tackle caused Heupel to change his game plan. We ran the ball 52 times to only 20 passes. I think that’s impressive considering Tennessee was down to its 2nd string right guard and 3rd string Left Tackle.

Last night was Nico 2nd fewest passes in a game. He threw 20 passes for the entire game and threw 16 passes for 1.5 quarters against Kent State.

The rushing TD that Sampson scored on, we had rushed the ball 9 consecutive times leading to the rushing TD for Sampson. No need to be flashy, just put it in the ground, chew up the clock and control the game.

How many times have you seen Tennessee have possession for over 10 minutes more than the other team?

Time of possession:
UT- 35:41
OU- 24:19

This is a lie!

Tennessee was down to its 3rd string LT, had play 2nd stringers at both guard positions. Tennessee injuries and field conditions in Heuple changing his game plane and still walked about with a double digit lead on the road with a freshman QB.

Of the 21 recorded pass attempts for Tennessee, 11 of them came in the first half, 10 of them in the 2nd half.

Do you ever notice the agenda of someone’s posts like Missouri fans….. look how many replied lol. If you watched the game you saw Tenn couldn’t do anything passing or running . They were held almost 250 yards under average …. Missouri would have folded if they had the offense we had last night and our defense never quit …. You will find out soon enough how good our defense is wonder what your excuse will be then . They had one good pass pretty much undefendable all night .

Missouri fans try so hard to make themselves believe they are as good as OU and everyone knows your not so why try ?
