As to the rest
A) It is a fact they moved the B12 to TX and Utx was most instrumental
B) It is a fact in CFB, OU > Utx
C) It is a fact, Utx has not won a SEC championship
(they got beat by Kentucky in Volleyball for the NCAA title, I was there)
D) It is a fact, Utx has treated Hogs a like red headed stepchild (was there when they hired Broyles)
F) Fact, Vols are the real UT, they were first. Unlike TAMU fans I do not, nor can ever remember using tu (as that is Tulane here), nor sips or tsips.
G) Fact, as an incoming member, Utx did not do Alabama right in austin. This was not the first time poor sportsmanship has been shown by Utx.
Also, the facts ...
I am old
I am old enough to remember actual events and historic SEC people
I do not intentionally troll as I am from a different generation
I do not boo at games for either side
I am old enough to remember good manners (why I love State fans)
I do not get sarcasm most of the time.
I still wear clean and pressed clothes to games (I am good at ironing)

Despite your anti-Texas bend, I must admit I do have somewhat of a soft spot for your ancient perspective on how the college landscape ended up like it did.

Why didn't the Texans go out and attack Santa Anna and the Mexican army while they were taking their afternoon naps?...Like they did at San Jacinto.

(A) Texas moved Big 12 HQ to Dallas

The Big 12 conference HQ has always been in the Dallas area since its formation. teasip didn't move it there.
quote:
Seven cities were considered for the conference's headquarters including: Colorado Springs, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City (the former headquarters of the Big Eight), Lubbock, Texas, Oklahoma City, and Omaha, Nebraska before Dallas was chosen as headquarters in May 1995. Later (in 2006) the Big 12 relocated to nearby Irving. [24]

His view is that the Big 8 was strong armed by the Texas schools (with UT the ring-master, of course) when the Big 12 formed to move it from Kansas City (Big 8 HQ) to Dallas.
The four Texas schools plus Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Colorado outvoted the rest of the former Big 8 schools to "move" it to Dallas.

Talk about a terrible decision for Colorado, program collapsed immediately after joining the B12

I think in the early days they were Border Conference (AZ, ASU, TT, et al) so Bio Big 8 was a move up. They probably fit the PAC schools better and should have made the move when the Pacific Coast got busted for cheating and was disbanded (only to be reformed a year or so later as the PAC. Oddly the 2 schools in the PCC who were not cheating did not get to join the PAC.
I always wondered what happens if the Big + SWC merger did not add Baylor and added Arkansas instead.

The issue I keep pointing out that the law of unintended consequences moved the NCAA out of Kansas City (Big 8) and to Indianapolis (B1G). You never want to lose a base. Imagine the SEC not in AtL and getting the benefit of that airport.

Well....I bet when 3500+ Mexicans were storming the wooden fence he was defending at the Alamo, he whished he would kept his arse in Tennessee.

I am not as anti Utx as you think. I am a grunt and I will always be a grunt. I grew up around athletes who did not boast but played with passion. If Utx said they were a Top 25 team I am cool but they want to insist they are Top 5. I just dislike the puffery and boasted that is unearned. I feel the same way about modern Michigan if it makes you feel better.

They were heavily outnumbered. I think it was like 4 or 5 Mexicans for every Texan. About 1,500 Mexicans stood ready outside the garrison for days while less than 300 Texans were waiting behind the walls of the Alamo.
Travis didn’t want to go there to begin with. He objected to the orders. Bowie was sent there to remove the artillery but there were no oxen. So he stayed. General Houston’s army was really disorganized and not well-trained at that point and he did not consider the Alamo worth defending from a strategic point of view. His orders were to remove the cannons and destroy the mission. The Alamo was not equipped to defend against a military offensive.
Basically some people ignored orders, other people were disorganized, and the militia and regulars that were left there were sitting ducks.
Travis sent letters pleading for more men and supplies but they were only marginally reinforced.
It was an absolute massacre. Crown them heroes I guess but those poor people didn’t stand a chance in hell.
quote:
Fellow citizens and compatriots;
I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna. I have sustained a continual Bombardment and cannonade for 24 hours and have not lost a man. The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken. I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, and our flag still waves proudly from the walls. I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism and everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch. The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily and will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible and die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor and that of his country. VICTORY or DEATH.
William Barret Travis
Lt. Col. Comdt.
P.S. The Lord is on our side. When the enemy appeared in sight we had not three bushels of corn. We have since found in deserted houses 80 or 90 bushels and got into the walls 20 or 30 head of Beeves.

I am also significantly part Cherokee, Kemosabe, and I know all about the Georgia gold rush, “There is gold in them there hills” and it’s consequences on the Nation. As a direct result, multiple Cherokee women were married into my family to keep them off the trail of tears. I am also aware of the political splits in Tennessee at the time, my ancestors lived there as first settlers, a stated previously. We were also with David Crockett, a bunch of Cherokee neighbors and the Franklin Militia and Jackson in the creek Indian war that resulted in the massacre at Fort Mims, Alabama. We were also at the battle of New Orleans. As I said before the Crocketts were friends and neighbors, and there were relatives that were born way before his legend called David Crockett (my last name ) I think we are also involved in one of your most family feuds and of course fought on the side of the McCoys against the Hatfields.
Everything I said is still true, your mascot would cuss and spit on the ground every time Tennessee was mentioned in the months before his death.
That changes nothing I said about David Crockett, who hated being called Davy btw. Your mascot is best known for dying in a battle of Texas Independence, and telling you to go to Hell.

So Why is every southern state still filled with transplant Katrina people from Louisiana who decided to never go back? But thanks for all the restaurants and all the food is delicious. Seriously though....Even the Florida hurricane refugees go home after awhile....everyone from LA is like NOPE...I'm staying in (insert new state) here.
