Last I checked, tu still had a baseball coach. The notion that this is "done" while Pierce is still on staff is hard to imagine.
I have no doubt that inquiries have been made. Schloss may well listen, if for no other reason to get a nice raise and other goodies from A&M. But I have a hard time believing this is done.
And you give del Conte way too much credit. He's certainly better than Dodds, but let's not get carried away.

I assume the best thing you could really do is get a coach to sign a letter of intent (non-binding), which would allow an AD to better prepare funding for a coach of their cailber/experience.
But unless anyone here wants to go diving through pages and pages of contracts.. I'm not sure what conflicts of interest or time to disclose clauses exist on signing with another team/entity while in a current active role in modern college coach contracts.

It feels like they're swinging with Pierce as the backup. If they get a big name then Pierce will be let go. If not, he stays another year and they try again next year.

Would obviously rule out DVH as there is no reason not to announce him. Personally thought he was a 2nd tier choice for Texas anyway.

Using that same rationale, it rules out anyone not currently playing.. unless it is Sully, Ming or Jarrett who just finished, but even with those guys, I think it would be announced on Friday or Saturday. If it goes into the weekend, it's likely Vitello or Schloss.
CDC either has a deal done with 1 of them or he has some big fricking balls..

If his target is Vitello, you may be right.
But if it is Schloss, I don't think he would take that risk with someone he goes on family vacations with.. He would already know if the answer is yes or no.. so if CDC is still pursuing.. the answer is yes.

I'm pretty sure signing something in the middle of the season would be a conflict of interest. I know that I cannot even work a second job if I wanted in the same field, even if it seems innocent.

Liucci is very interesting.
He is widely held in contempt and ridicule on our board but yet he can't say a thing without it getting reposted on our board. To quote a famous leader...

Thinking you have a chance at DVH might be funnier than thinking you are taking the Aggie coach. DVH played at Arkansas back when Arkansas and Texas hated each other with a passion. He also has 3 grandchildren In Fayetteville. He will coach a few more years and retire in some type of role in the foundation if he wants

If DVH was the guy it would have been announced already. Don’t think he was ever seriously in the mix for whatever reason.
