It just occurred to me that they didn't have to play LSU during the season. Many LSU fans on this board tend to question the legitimacy of any national championship that doesn't involve playing and beating LSU. Just wondering what the LSU folks think about this national championship.

Not one lsu fan has said this about last years winner (which wasn't Bama by the way and things aren't looking too good this year either) and you know it.

There isn't one season we win the East that we don't have the opportunity to play LSU. However, that takes oooperation from LSU to make it happen. They have on several occasions and are 3-1 when that happens. However, not our fault when they don't show up.

About as concerning as how little Bama has played good teams from the east during Saban's tenure.

Not sure what he is, but he isn't really one of us. And now, I don't think he is one of yours either.

Wouldn't have made a difference unless LSU missing their two best receivers.

They are the defending champs and they don’t feel a need to make up championships to make themselves feel better

The real question is why LSU fans, and other fans here, are questioning Georgia's right to even be in the playoffs last year since they didn't win the conference. Seems like I hear this all the time when Bama does it.

ETA: What sort of people downvote facts? Morons, I guess.

I will make a few points about how many things had to fall into place for them to finally break through, and why they should not count on a repeat just yet.

Everyone built last years team up to be some unstoppable kaiju rampaging through the College Football world like their own personal Tokyo, but it turns out that when they got to Atlanta they got exposed as merely Barney.

Had things not gone their way at the end of the year and the Committee had to make the choice between them and teams that were conference champs with as good or better records and wins they don't get that rematch. No way to justify choosing them and UGA fans know it.

The team they faced in the finals was not the team they faced in Atlanta because of injuries. That team in Atlanta was a bad matchup for them and again UGA fans know it.

But, the perfect storm happened, things fell into place for them. Part of the game and they won. It takes getting breaks to win it all.

Which brings me to now. They are rising out of Tokyo Bay once again..but there's a lot of football to be played and someone might have an Oxygen Destroyer.....

Plenty of people question the legitimacy anyway due to Bama injuries. As we all know, injuries are NOT part of football, and if you have a key injury, you should be able to claim that you really won a game that you lost.
