I mean, Cam has most certainly been doubted since he left Auburn. To say otherwise is pure bias. This thread is an abomination.

Let me know when this country isn't complaining about a certain race being left off a Wheaties box or in an Oscar's ballot and they start caring about the poverty, gang violence, homicide rate, and drug addiction problem.

because its one or the other

So we have no problem with Jordan being the face of the NBA, followed by Kobe, followed by Durant/griffin, followed by Curry...

but somehow this country is against Cam Newton be the face of the NFL because he's black.

Well in the world of stereotyping what race is more associated with which sport? Which race is more associated with the QB position vs a shooting guard?

And he never said the country was against him

Let me know when people start wanting to talk about the lack of diversity in those various sports, where anyone but black people are the minority.

Lets look at the stereo-typically primarily black sport of basketball. What happens when someone who is white, looks to be a future star?

Isn't that sweet. You Auburn guys cult following of this guy is amazing.

As for Namath not too many "establishment" types were thrilled with his white shoes, and on field bravado either.

It's not a lack of diversity in the NBA its a result of the number of white kids that actually play the sport, same a baseball and black kids....stupid argument.

As for Cam Newton, I can honestly say that I wouldn't like him regardless of where he played college ball (even Alabama) or under what circumstances he arrived there. My generation put a premium on humility and were turned off by blatant displays of egotism.

Really? Tell us all about how much you dislike Joe Namath, then.

Let's be frank, MOST people don't like Cam because they like seeing the old system of QB's being stately and respectful. With some that comes down to black and white, with most I honestly just think it is how people in power "should act".

I think the same people hated Johnny Manziel in college.

We despise him for shite like this. Ever seen another "grown man" pull off this gesture? All about Cam, always.

Never seen a "grown up" university taunt an individual opposing player over their stadium sound system, either.

You asked for it.

No I didn't. I remember talking heads, fans of other schools (especially on here) etc all saying Cam didn't have the "brains" to be a successful NFL QB and that his athletic ability alone wouldn't cut it in the NFL. Not to mention the troubles he had while at UF.

Hilarious that these Bama fans and others in this thread are now saying no one doubted him since he's so gifted.

Rant, never change...

uhhh, nothing.

Dirk in his prime was as good as any. He was NEVER the face of the NBA.

So, it's okay for a sport that is primarily black, but in other things i.e. the Oscars... something has to change, this is racist.

It's reverse-racism at its finest, and it's getting old. Really old.

You're an aggie so i'll slow it down for you. Black youth aren't as attracted to soccer as they are basketball, hence the lack of diversity in soccer. It's not a race issue. If you go and watch a middle school basketball game (non private) there may be 1 or 2 white kids on the whole court and he's usually a 3 point shooter history has taught us. So if you have 18 black kids on the court and 2 white kids which variable do you see as having a better chance to play professionally. Your argument regarding hollywood and acting is a completely separate situation. When movie A. out-grosses movie B. but movie A is excluded from recognition you can call that what you may. Personally I don't give to shits about the oscars just my .02
