Why was AU only a 5 seed after winning the SEC tourney in 2019?

Auburn was a 7 seed going into the Tournament. They also played 3 pretty bleh teams on the way to playing Tennessee that didn't add much at all to their resume.

Missouri - 15-17 (3-13)
South Carolina - 16-16 (11-7)
Florida - 20-16 (9-9)

So when the committee finalized the bracket (before/during the title game vs Tennessee) Auburn hadn't added a whole lot to their resume even with 3 wins.

If we win two games in the tournament, we will be 17-11 with a bunch of Q1 and Q2 wins. Path for us is pretty simple - beat SCAR and LSU and we are probably in

It amazes me how much Torvik loves Tennessee. They ain’t very good.

Good enough to beat your dumpster fire of a program.

Time will take care of that. I do not have to try and convince anyone.

Unless they outright when the SEC tourney, that's it. Nothing they do in the tourney will have any bearing on the NCAA tournament. They are either in or they aren't at this point (outside of actually win the SEC tourney).
I'm not sure why people fall for this every year. Conference tournaments do little to help a team's seeding or whether they get in.

I agree that sometimes people overrate the conference tournaments, but if you think an Ole Miss win against a top 30 LSU team on a neutral court won't make a big difference for a team on the very precipice of tournament selection...I don't think that's a very good opinion.
