It was stupid by the Cock defender and warrants a penalty.
This ^^^^ It was a boneheaded move by a 6’5” 260lb guy that all he had to do was get in front of Nuss, and shield him from the play. He took it as a chance to tee off on the an, and got called for it from 3 different refs. USCe fans can cry all they want, but it was a cheap shot, it got called, and ultimately changed the outcome of the game.

It's in the targeting rule.
You might not like the call, but it was correctly called within the rule you cited. It was a blind side block with forcible contact.

You are adding your own language to the rule. It doesn’t say anything about forcible contact ONLY being with the helmet or shoulders in what you cited.
This was literally in the OP, copied from the NCAA rulebook:
"During the return, B21 approaches A88 at midfield from the blind side and blocks A88
(a) with extended hands;
(b) with a screen type block;
(c) by attacking with forcible contact with his shoulder into the chest of A88;
(d) by attacking with forcible contact with the shoulder into the head of A88 B44 returns the pass to the A-20"
That description means that extended hands and screen type blocks are NOT forcible contact while the shoulder is.
You are allowed to shove a player with your hands from the blindside. You're not allowed to light them up with your shoulder or head. The whole point of the rule is to prevent big hits against defenseless players. Shoves are not big hits... they're shoves.

No it wasn't. The NCAA rulebook has examples to help refs understand the proper way to call rules. He linked the section where it showed that for blindside blocks, forcible contact doesn't happen with screen blocks or blocks initiated with the hands.
It only happens with the shoulder. It didn't mention the head in that example but in other ones it shows that a blindside block leading with the head is both a penalty for the blindside block AND targeting.
The OP is 100% right on this. He's even gone through the trouble of copying the section that proves it from the NCAA rule book and you still won't admit it.
Nuss wasn't fouled. he flopped and got a call that wasn't deserved and that won LSU the game. It's official, so there's nothing SC can do about it, but they were 100% screwed out of a win by a bad ref call due to Nuss flopping.

He did not “approach him (the QB) with extended hands”. His hands were against his own chest and he pushed his hands forward to make forcible contact from the blind side. It was a good call.

Two pick 6's called back in one game?

Furthermore, South Carolina fans continuing to cry over the call is a perfect reflection of your fan base.
I'm not crying over the call. We lost. We had plenty of opportunities to win but didn't get the job done but before you lsu- fans run around with your chest poked out remember you are all breathing a sigh of relief for beating a team that is in the back half of the SEC. Look in the mirror and realize what LSU football has become.

Dude. SC caught a judgment call that had an impact on the game. It happens every week. Crying yourself to sleep over it is not going to change it.
I would be more worried about your middle school backup QB or kicker who chokes or students who were getting ready to rush the field over a very average barely ranked LSU team.

Meh, I don’t really care about style points at this point in the season. We are growing as a team, we will continue getting better.
Georgia barely beat UK, a team you guys trounced.

LSU right now is 5x what SC has ever been.

I haven’t seen SCar posters this salty since…they blamed the refs last year for letting Mertz and Napier score 44 points in Columbia.

Pointless thread. The penalty was called
Imagine that was the aggy/south carolina game. Or imagine the roles were reversed.
Is that how this board would react?

Uh... they called a penalty. What is the actual point of your thread? Trying to convince yourself that they SHOULD have called the foul that they did call that you apparently think they shouldn't have called?

Go suck a cock dude. Y’all are pathetic.

Oh please. For a Doc, you're reading comprehension isn't very good. Based on the rule, the only way it's a penalty is if he "attacks with forcible contact with his shoulder into the chest" or "attacks with forcible contact with the shoulder into the head "

Not sure why you quoted that text. Here's the rule... again.
"During the return, B21 approaches A88 at midfield from the blind side and blocks A88
(a) with extended hands;"
Nuss was blocked with extended hands. What do we call a block with extended hands? We call it a shove. He wasn't approached with extended hands... because that's not how football works. You aren't a blocking zombie with your arms fully extended as you approach a player. You extend them as you block and shove them.
As much as you want to argue otherwise, the rule has been provide along with the video. This is 100% the example given. Nuss was blocked with extended hands from the blindside. That is NOT A PENALTY as shown by the NCAA rules.
Nuss flopped and got a call that shouldn't have been made. It was a bad call and cost SC the game. LSU should be thankful for Nuss's acting ability to draw that foul, because otherwise they would have lost.

Funny you posted that because that was the exact same mental image I had based on the description "doc" gave. In fact, I searched for zombie gifs but couldn't find a good one...
