Ten largest public university campuses by enrollment during the 2023–24 academic year

1 Texas A&M University College Station, Texas 77,491
2 University of Central Florida Orlando, Florida 69,316
3 University of Florida Gainesville, Florida 60,489
4 Ohio State University Columbus, Ohio 60,046
5 Arizona State University Tempe, Arizona 57,144
6 University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign, Illinois 56,403
7 University of Minnesota Minneapolis, Minnesota 54,890
8 Florida International University Miami, Florida 54,037
9 University of Texas at Austin Austin, Texas 53,082
10 Michigan State University East Lansing, Michigan 51,316

I believe A&M is over 79K for the '24-'25 school year.

Not possible that there are 60k students in Gainesville, and not sure how that the student population is counted. Part time? Other locations included?

Have you been to college Station? It’s in the middle of farmland and cows with nothing for 50 miles.

They can build forever

I think the university actually has plans to pull back on enrollment over the next several years.

I really hate it. It is entirely too big.

Texas A&M to Pause Enrollment Growth
quote:

The university’s student body has grown by 30 percent over the last decade, which has stressed the institution’s infrastructure, from on-campus housing to transit. The enrollment pause is one prong of a broader plan to “rightsize” the university, according to a campus message from President Mark A. Welsh III.

TAMU is in a perfect place for it.

Plenty of room to expand in a smallish town/rural setting.

Not much in the way of distractions like other universities in big cities.

Great value for the education I got. Hopefully that is still the case.

This is a stupid take by you, Despite averaging 25% more degrees handed out each year the average Texas A&M graduate Earnings greatly exceed the average Texas university graduate earnings

If the graduation numbers were equal, the Texas A&M degree, would be even more valuable than the Texas university degree

You Keep giving out degrees to blue haired men that think they are women in gender studies.

Yeah, we capped it at 50k for a while, but not anymore. It is entirely too big.

I wonder why tuition + fees are higher for TAMU than UT Austin.

I like it. Dilutes the brand. Makes it commonplace and less special.

Drive around the Soviet town, with your windows down, and some clown will toss a diploma in.
