California took a big step forward in 2019 by passing the “Fair Pay to Play Act.” This law gave college athletes the right to profit from endorsements and other NIL opportunities, set to go into effect in 2023. California’s bold move inspired other states to start drafting their own NIL laws, pushing the NCAA closer to change.

California has a state income tax of 12%. That’s going to hurt their NIL

I have said all along that it is interesting that all this started in liberal California. Like, what if this was all a long play to undermine and eventually end major college football. And if you don’t think this will end it if there are no forthcoming regulations then you are very naive.
