The drop off didn’t have to be that bad. Mack decided he wanted to run that fossil offense Saban had, fullback and all. Meanwhile the Big12 was leaving him in the dust, we couldn’t keep up offensively.

It’s easy to play bully ball when there’s no threat on the other side of the ball. If you go down 14, all of sudden those possessions start to get real high stake. Instead Texas puts up 6 points in two possessions with a Freshman QB. There’s a reason no outside the SEC was running ISO in the late 2000’s. It went from a nightmare matchup for Alabama to a bad matchup for Texas real quickly.
Dude, Alabama kicked the shite out of Texas on both sides of the ball so badly Mack Brown lost his fricking mind and started changing his philosophy.

You are living in what is commonly described as a dream world. If, if, if.
YOU: If Texas had scored 49 points, then Alabama likely would have never scored 50 points to win the game.
US: WTF?

A healthy Colt McCoy wouldn’t beat that Bama team.

Your running game sucked that night as well as all year. Ours didn’t and that’s why we won.

Didn't have to happen, but happened.
Let's also not pretend like Texas is back for good just yet. 2021 = 5-7 and 2022 = 8-5. Last year was decent but, it may just be an anomaly like those other good seasons here and there since that fateful date of January 7th, 2010.

2008 Texas most likely beats Florida but Oklahoma got the nod over the Horns. If McCoy doesn’t get hurt, Texas likely defeats Alabama in 2009.
2008-2009 were legit back-to-back national championship caliber Texas teams. It’s unfortunate on what could have been.

Damn, I hope your intoxicated because you sound dumb as hell.
You're off by 2 years on both directions on better candidates. If you add 2 years I don't want to talk about it. However, drunkingly falling dick first into some easy poon was nice, so we got that going for us.
Suck it, land thieves.

This is highly unlikely. Besides, there was never any medical exam or diagnosis or doctor anywhere on planet Earth that ever said anything at all was wrong with Colt or his shoulder.
Everyone just thinks he was a massive pussy that got scared for his future when he got hit and didn't want to lose out on those millions.

Is there a more fluke national champion than Nick Sabans ‘09 team? I’ll admit the ‘09 Texas team was not elite, the ‘08 team was loaded. The offense was Colt and a bunch of pussy arse offensive linemen Mack recruited from the Austin suburbs. Our defense still had some dogs left but it wasn’t to the level of the previous year. That being said, that team was more than capable of boat racing that Bama team. It was matchup nightmare.
The shorthorns and WHAT IF. If only college football came with a do-over, they could bottle that stuff in the Lone Star State and pour it on all their briskets and make millions.

1.) It was the first offensive drive for Tex in the first quarter. Yes Texas came out like gangbusters and moved the ball, but so what. I heard Saban say that during the first 18-20 plays of the game is when teams are cute and show you things they haven't shown before on tape. After that, they settle into their tendencies. Could it be the first offensive drive was this? Football is a game of momentum swings and it waxes and wanes. Texas came out on fire, but it was just a matter of time before Bama would get their turn.
2). As mentioned on here numerous times. We had 2 -100 yard rushers in that game. Ingram/Richardson. Leading up to that game, all that we heard was Tex had not given up a 100 yard rusher all season. Muschamp and the mighty Texas defense. We had 2 in one game. Colt didn't play defense.
3) Injuries are part of it. Sometimes you're on the winning side of it.
We could sit here and make an argument that if Tua wasn't made out of glass and playing on a bum leg that the 2019 LSU team could have been beat. It took all 60 minutes for them to do so. That is football.

Our QB started the game with cracked ribs.
We barely threw a pass and still beat you.

Doesn’t change the fact we run away with that game.
Based on what? That first Texas drive started on the Alabama 37-yard line courtesy of a failed fake punt pass that got intercepted by Gideon. Trey Newton had the biggest play on that drive with an outside run out of the shotgun from the 27-yard line to the 11-yard line on 1st & 10. The very next play, the fifth play from scrimmage, McCoy had his injury.

You literally got your arse handed to you and you have never been the same since. Just like the 92 Bama team sent Miami into the wilderness, 09 Bama did the same thing to Texas. That one championship led to another and another and another. Fluke my arse!

No one actually watching that game thought Texas was going to win except the crayon eaters in orange.

Didn’t Tejas have the #1 rushing defense coming into the Rose Bowl? I remember thinking that was an odd statistic, considering that was the height of the Big XII chunk it around days.
