Is there a more fluke national champion than Nick Sabans ‘09 team? I’ll admit the ‘09 Texas team was not elite, the ‘08 team was loaded. The offense was Colt and a bunch of pussy arse offensive linemen Mack recruited from the Austin suburbs. Our defense still had some dogs left but it wasn’t to the level of the previous year. That being said, that team was more than capable of boat racing that Bama team. It was matchup nightmare.

We deserved to lose for a QB Power call in our our own redzone. Doesn’t change the fact we run away with that game.

The Texas defense allowed both Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson to each rush for over 100 yards and two TD’s.
The Texas offensive line allowed the crucial sack that caused the fumble that sealed the game.
Alabama took its foot off the gas after going up 24-6, as evidenced by Alabama only having 12 pass attempts for the entire game.
Texas lost. It’s been 14 years. Let it go.

Bama had a lot of juiced up players that season. They were claiming it was "deer antler velvet" jacking their players up like that.

Your 2005 team.
Sure was the best team that year, but that’s a fluke when viewed in terms of history. Texas having the best team.
Saban went on the rattle off NCs after 2009, so not a fluke.

Bama wasn’t throwing the ball no matter what the score was. Saban was terrified of anything over 3 & 5.

Up the middle for 50 yds, untouched. Yep, a real fluke.

You’re still talking about this?

Texas got the fisting of their life that night.

You got your asses whipped at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
There is nothing fluke about that.

McElroy had broke ribs that game. AJ would’ve played if necessary.

I don’t think that’s reality at all. Our defense played an excessive amount of snaps. There were 5 turnovers and bunch of three & outs. Yet it was a 3 score game. If we were able to score with that last possession, I wouldn’t have any faith in Bama to match in under two minutes.

What a crock this post is. No Bama fan leading up to that game was even worried. Bama had slayed the unbeatable dragon in Florida and the BCS title game was a formality and everybody knew it. The ONLY reason you drew close in the 4th was that Saban just tried not to lose the game after going up big at halftime by running ISO up the middle and playing nickel on defense the entire 2nd half. Once you got close he turned up the heat and got two turnovers to win by 17. At no time did I think that game was in doubt.
When a Texas defender didn't even try to engage Mt Coty on a lead block on a TD I knew that they didn't have the sack to even be in that game. Auburn, UT, LSU, South Carolina , all the SEC teams at least would come up and hit Coty.

Why’d your square HC go for fake punt in his own side of the field if he had so much confidence in his team?

Bama threw 12 passes the entire game, and one of those came from the punter, and still put up 37 points and won by two tuddies.
Lmaaaaaoooooooooooo
Weep.

For Texas fans, it hasn't been 14 years. It was like it happened yesterday due to the lingering effects of the arse-kicking on their program and their very identity as a team.
From 2001-2009, Texas was a strong team that didn't have a single season without at least double digit wins for the season. You know, 13-0, 11-1, 11-2, etc...
After Mack got smacked, it crushed their spirit like I've rarely seen in a single game. Alabama absolutely destroyed their confidence in themselves, in their identity as a team, in who they were as individuals even. They immediately, as in the next day, started to overhaul their whole system to not get beat around like huge Texas pussies.
From Jan. 7th, 2010, otherwise known as their day of reckoning, to present day, they have floundered and flopped with three 5-7 seasons, a 6-7 season, a 7-6 season, a 7-3 season, a couple of 8-5 seasons, etc... broken up by just one or two good seasons here and there, including last season.
Texas fans are still very much living in that moment and likely will be for quite some time.

Alabama scored 24 points in the first half alone. It was basically over at that point. Texas only scored 21 points the entire game.
The turnovers were because your O-line was getting it's arse kicked.
Just take a look at the play colt got hurt on. Texas ran a speed sweep, but it was covered and colt had to keep the ball and turn forward. If he had tried to pitch it, it's a TD for Alabama. But your shitty arse lineman tried to cut block, got their faces planted to the ground and Marcell Dareus comes from the other side of the line and hits him from the side.
The interception..by an Alabama lineman 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Texas line destroyed AGAIN.
Not 1, but 2 RBs with over 100 yards rushing.
Over and over Texas was destroyed at the LOS.
I can only guess you must have been on the sideline tending to Colt or something, because I don't know what game you saw.

It’s easy to play bully ball when there’s no threat on the other side of the ball. If you go down 14, all of sudden those possessions start to get real high stake. Instead Texas puts up 6 points in two possessions with a Freshman QB. There’s a reason no outside the SEC was running ISO in the late 2000’s. It went from a nightmare matchup for Alabama to a bad matchup for Texas real quickly.
