Dear Sweet Baby Jesus,

Praise your name,

Dear Sweet Little Infant Jesus, with your tiny little hands and feet and your Roll Tide blanky all wrapped up in the manger, I would also like to pray for the hire of Greg Marshall, and remind you of the pain and suffering we endured during the Kick Six. Despite the inexplicable evil of auburn going to the BCS championship and then this year with Godless buckeyes winning it all, we have stayed faithful to you and praised your name in every Natural Light that we consume. Please grant us this request, and let the success of Alabama basketball glorify your name just like Alabama football.

And please make sure your counterpart below keeps things warm for the auburn fans who need a place to stay.

Amen.

Is that how you do job searches?

It's not? Weird. It may not be how college basketball coaches do job searches either. I can guarantee you his agent is interested in total compensation.

I just think he can do better than Bama. If he is a top level coach, he can get 3 mill from a top level school, or at least a school that has more potential than Bama.

If he is that good then just money wouldn't be his only consideration.

It sounds like Bama is more willing to pay more than Texas, but Texas has more money.

This doesn't matter very much if any at all. Either team can only pay him so much and it will be less than what Cal and several other coaches make. Between 3-5 mil won't hinder either team from getting him. It will just come down to where we wants to be and how much control he will have at each. Money will not be an issue for either team if both want him that bad.

Saban will likely be part of the reason if the guy comes.

If reports of Marshall being highly impersonal are true, can you imagine what it would be like to cover Alabama sports if Marshall is hired? I love having Nick Saban, but even I have to admit he's over the top with the way he berates some of the reporters...if they have to go through that in basketball season too, I'd be looking for a career change.

Saban has made it pretty clear that he strongly desires top-tier programs in other sports - especially basketball, because it helps with recruiting.

Basketball games are frequently a part of a recruit's official visit. You don't want to take a recruit to see a dead arse environment with a shitty coach.

This guy works for Wichita State:

@ShockerVoice: To clarify, Gregg Marshall did not cancel his radio show for tonight. It was tentative, and did not get placed on his schedule.

@ShockerVoice: An effort will be made to schedule a end of the season Gregg Marshall Show in the near future.

@ShockerVoice: Those of you speculating "deeper meaning" into this might want to know that there was no show scheduled last week either, worked it out late

Definitely. Plus there is no scenario where Marshall is ever worshiped more at Bama than Saban as long as Saban remains coach. So unless Saban decides he wants to coach at Tennessee or Auburn, I think his place on top is safe with the Bama fans.

It's widely known that Saban helped recruit Grant to Bama and will likely do as much as he can to help land Marshall. The other guys explained it.
