That’s a lot. The cherished “but what’s the on campus numbers?!?” Talking point of Mississippi State is about to be dead, if it isn’t already.

People are wailing in the streets regarding the on-campus parking situation. Gnashing of teeth. All that.

The entire Oxford undergraduate enrollment was around 8,000 students, including 2,000 freshmen, when I started. It was like a small town. Everyone knew everyone or someone that knew them.

Get. Off. My. Lawn.

State law that they must accept a student as long as the student meets admission standards. This is a problem created by the IHL and not anything the individual schools can do about it.

Wow. This is retarded. I had no idea . So if every high school kid that qualified applied to OM we could have several million in a class get accepted and the university just has to let them come?

That’s wild

It’s ridiculous and the reason we have a 97% acceptance rate coupled with the fact that every public university in MS has to have the same admission criteria. Just imagine the scores of those 3%.

This only applies to in state students though, no? Last year, almost 70% of freshman were out of state.

So it seems to me this is more about being whores than being under the gun of the law.

That, I'm not sure of. I know it really started with some discrimination ruling where it was more difficult for blacks to get into college. As a result, the admission standards were relaxed to make it much easier to get in. Here's the basic admission criteria:

The IHL needs to be either disbanded or hand over admission standards to the actual schools.

We need to get a little more selective it appears. I little more elite, if you will. Change the law.

I’m 95% certain it only applies to in state students. I really think it’s as simple as the school is being greedy by accepting as many students as they currently are.

Honestly freshmen that live on campus should be banned from parking on campus. There’s a massive parking lot outside of Oxford that the university owns, so just turn it into a massive parking garage instead and have the bus go back and forth between there.

Ole Miss also has a gigantic dropout rate compared to many other schools. Like 35% of the students are freshmen, another 30% are sophomores, and the remaining 35% are juniors, seniors, and grad students. That is why.

Y'all should try having to schedule classes. They keep letting them in, but we aren't getting any more classrooms. And then there is hiring faculty to keep up.

Due to concerns over enrolment decline, a lot of SEC universities are going all gas and no breaks on enrollment. Alabama is also bursting at the seems. Next year should be another record freshman class.
