You might call him a racially ignorant, Christian bigot but he has displayed nothing to make him a racist homophobe.
My dad proposed to my mom at 17 as a 25 year old.
Yeah I'm sure this guy just loves black people

Christianity really is hated in America today. Would have never thought I would see it in my lifetime. Who would have thought having conservative family values would be met with such vile and contempt.
Christians are the most inclusive people, but because they speak out in defense of what God says on social issues, they are attacked. Unreal.
Holy shite some of you are delusional

I don't know whether you're referring to me or Phil.
If it's me I've said nothing to indicate I'm a racist.
The dude conducted a marriage for willie's best friend (who was black) at his house and his family is tri-racial. The worst thing you could say about him is that he was ignorant to think all blacks were happy during that time.

Your attitude of calling Phil a bigot tPOS when he didn't push a belief on anybody says otherwise.
At the end of the day and no matter how you spin it he still just answered a question. Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean you get to interpret how you want and make it fact.
The tPOS comment was made in jest, as is the case on these boards most of the time. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I don't think he's a tPOS. I do think he's extremely ignorant.
Yes, he answered a question. He answered a question about sin and went off on a rant against homosexuality. He wasn't asked about homosexuality, he chose to bring that into the discussion. He came across very ignorant, despite his Biblical justifications, and deserves all the criticism he has gotten.

He paraphrased Scripture, accurately. Must one now assume you think Scripture is ignorant?

Out here in these woods, without any cameras around, Phil is free to say what he wants. Maybe a little too free. He’s got lots of thoughts on modern immorality, and there’s no stopping them from rushing out. Like this one: “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”
You get absolutely nothing from the article that he just started on that. To say he just up and offered that with no question beforehand would be disingenuous. Not saying you're wrong but you have to make an assumption to get there.
on the tPOS statement.
Look I don't watch the show. I've seen 3 episodes, chuckled and was done. I do duck hunt and have heard of these guys 10 years ago. I don't have a need to defend a backwoods MBA toting, preaching millionaire.
I do feel the need to defend a guy's ability to say what he thinks is sin is without being chastised as a ignorant, racist tPOS bigot.
Because if so, I can't have an opinion on morality (because it comes from the Bible) and you are getting to set the standard on what that is. While we might have different opinions on what is moral, my opinion is not more valuable than yours and vice versa.

If you want to assume that, that's fine.
I think a lot of ignorant people use the Bible and Scriptures to justify their ignorant beliefs. It's been used to justify slavery, segregation, denial of women's rights, and now homosexual rights.

I asked a question. The only one who has clearly made an assumption is you.
Ignorant, intolerance.. go hand in hand. You once again, show yours.

Well, perhaps I'm ignorant on Scripture. I don't think ignorance is necessarily a bad thing. The way I see it is either Scripture is ignorant, or ignorant people have perversed Scripture to justify their ignorant beliefs. My guess is it's a little bit of both.

I'm just wondering why "tolerance" is, obviously, only to be afforded to homosexuals and non-Christians.
And I agree with your statement.

It never ceases to amaze me the outspoken critics of the Bible whom have never even cracked it open.

A woman defending the Bible? Know how I know you're ignorant? Or at best, have little to no self esteem?
You're the type of woman who gets smacked around by her husband and then convinces herself it was her fault and that he had every right to do that.

What makes you think I've never cracked open a Bible?
And I'm hardly an outspoken critic of it. I actually think it's a wonderful book with a powerful message. I am critical of certain aspects of it, but I rarely share those criticisms unless the topic is brought forth by someone else.

Funny you mention ignorance because this has to be the most moronic set of sentences I've seen in quite awhile. Congratulations.
And judging by this, it is very apparent you know not of which you "speak".

Hardly. Once again, you show your stupidity.
Anyone who knows me or whom has ever even met me gets the message rather quickly that if one were to ever "smack" me, he would do so only once. I smack back ... hard.

So I was right. You do pick and choose which parts of scripture to accept. Thanks.
Posted on 12/30/13 at 9:26 am to thesoccerfanjax
No, idiot, I accept all of it; I just do not take bullshite from assholes. You getting that yet?
Posted on 12/30/13 at 9:27 am to Arkla Missy
So you believe homosexuals should be stoned to death?
